On the night of 28 April 1990, terrorists arrived at the home of Kashmiri Poet Sh Sarwanand Kaul. Terrorists gathered all the members of the family together and offered a pretext: they claimed to be looking for someone called Ghulam Rasool. Then they looted the house systematically. They took gold, jewellery, Pashmina shawls, and clothes bought for an upcoming family wedding. They entered Sh Sarwanand’s library and took literary manuscripts and works in progress. Then came the demand: Sarwanand Kaul Premi must come with them to meet their commander. His younger son, Virender Kaul, refused to let his father go alone. He insisted on going with him. The extremists agreed. Father and son walked out into the darkness of 28 April 1990 and did not come back. #OnThisDay in 1990, their bodies were found hanging from a tree. Their arms & legs had been broken. Their eyes had been gouged and what not .. Verinder Kaul left behind a young widow and an infant son, 18 months old. This forced the Kaul family to leave Kashmir, never to return and people in Kashmir today blame Sh Jagmohan Malhotra for the exodus of the Kashmiri Hindus. There was no protest in #Kashmir then and all this happened in the thought process of "Raliv, Galiv ya Chaliv"..

Let me tell you why a Muslim would stab a random Jewish person on the streets of London. I was raised Muslim, and I know exactly why this happens. It’s not a reaction to the war in Gaza. It’s not oppression. It’s not radicalization. It’s the logical outcome of Islam itself. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Muslim or not, we as human beings carry guilt deep inside us. We know we are not good enough, and we spend our life trying to redeem ourself through good deeds, thinking it will make the suffocating guilt go away. Christianity for example offers a way out of guilt, a solution not based on your works but on Christ’s. Salvation isn’t earned, it’s given. You accept that you can’t redeem yourself, because Christ already did everything on your behalf. That means you’re free. Free to live, free to build, free to serve, free to love. And when a Christian feels lost, broken, and in need of forgiveness, they can go to church, talk to a pastor or priest, and leave knowing they are forgiven. Islam, on the other hand, doesn’t offer redemption, it weaponizes guilt. Instead of providing salvation, Allah exposes you, holds your sins over your head, and threatens you with hellfire and torture in the grave. The Quran isn’t a book of peace, it’s a book of threats. It bullies Muslims into obedience through fear, humiliation, and punishment. So what happens when a Muslim seeks redemption? They try to be better Muslims. They pray, fast, give to charity, go on Hajj, do everything Allah commands. But it never works. I know it. I did it. And no matter how much you pray, no matter how much you try, the guilt never goes away. Because deep down, every Muslim knows it’s not enough. Allah always demands more. Allah loves those who die fighting against the infidels. That’s not an opinion, it’s in the Quran, in Hadith, in every lesson taught to children. This is why Muslims, even the so-called "moderates," always hesitate to condemn terrorism. Because they know jihad is required by Allah. They might not be willing to commit it themselves, but they can't say it’s wrong. So when a Muslim fails to reach peace through religious rituals, they have two choices: Give up, stop being devout, and learn to live with the guilt, or commit to jihad, because that’s the only way to be true to yourself. The Quran spells it out clearly: “Kill those who do not worship Allah or obey the Prophet” (9:29). So when a Muslim embraces this identity fully, killing infidels isn’t just justified, it’s joyful. It’s an act of: Saving yourself, obeying Allah, securing your eternity, finally escaping the crushing weight of guilt This is why a Muslim can stab a random jewish person on the streets and feel nothing but satisfaction. Because for the first time in his life, he finally believes he has done something worthy of redemption.

One of the few chants I remember from a young age, in addition to “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”, is “Death to the unveiled”! I grew up hearing masses of people wishing death to anyone who wasn’t wearing hijab improperly because not wearing it wasn’t an option and wearing it improperly was akin to being naked and unveiled. I still panic when I feel the wind in my hair and think I forgot my hijab and would get arrested for it. These women tried to stand up to an Islamic ideology that overtook every facet of our lives right from the beginning. Our resistance started decades ago and won’t stop until Iranians are free. What Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is to Uttar Pradesh & Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is to New Delhi, JAMIA SIRAJ-UL-ULOOM (JSU) was to Kashmir. When it should have been applauded & upgraded to university status, instead, a generation's dream was buried today. Every land has an institution that defines its intellectual & cultural legacy built by its own people over decades of hardwork, with their sweat & blood. Ours was Jamia Siraj-ul-uloom, the peoples institutiona, and today it has been silenced. The painful reality is: what NC failed to achieve in 1975, 1979, 1987, and 1996, today they are achieving in silence and paving a path without taking the blame. What is being dismantled is the only ideological deterrent to NC's domination. What is happening is NC's 50 years old project being completed. While doing this, the NC, with 50 seats keeps selling the same excuse: “Law and order is with the LG, go & protest there." With that one line, they escape accountability for every erosion we suffer. Kashmir didn’t give the NC a mandate to hide & present people like they have no one but to protect, to preserve, and to fight for everything that was snatched from us. But NC is fully using the brute mandate to dismantle what they have been trying from 50 years. If the NC's only answer to every pain is to point at the LG office, then what is the point of this govt? If they cannot stand for the people in pain, let them vacate the chair. The people will talk to the LG office themselves or choose someone better to be their advocate. We do not need a govt that only holds office, but not our pain.
