Alrighty ladies and gentlemen… We here at NitPickCentral are proud to officially announce what is easily the most ambitious project we’ve ever attempted. And honestly… it might be the most ambitious thing we’ve ever done. Period. If you’ve been listening to the podcast lately — or you’re just now discovering us — you may have noticed something: we’ve been leveling up. The production, the projects, the ideas… everything. And now it’s time to go bigger than ever. We are officially launching The Road to Avengers: Secret Wars. That’s right. We are embarking on a massive journey through the entire MCU. That means we will be watching, reviewing, and podcasting EVERY single piece of Marvel Cinematic Universe content ever released. We’re talking: • Every Movie • Every Disney+ TV Show • Every One-Shot • Every Marvel Special Presentation All of it. In order. From the beginning. And no… we’re not doing this to build hype for Avengers: Doomsday. That’s too easy. All roads lead to Avengers: Secret Wars. This is going to be a long ride, and we want you along for the journey. If you’re a fan of the podcast, keep your eyes open for brand new episodes dropping soon. If you prefer watching instead of listening, don’t worry — full YouTube videos will be coming as well. And if podcasts and videos aren’t your thing and you prefer scrolling through social media, we’ve still got you covered with 10/10 written reviews breaking down every entry in the MCU. No matter how you follow along, one thing is certain: We will be reviewing every movie, every show, every one-shot, and every special presentation Marvel has released. This is The Road to Avengers: Secret Wars… …and trust us when we say: this is a journey you’re not going to want to miss. #RoadToSecretWars #AvengersSecretWars #MCU #Marvel #MarvelStudios #SecretWars #MCUPodcast #NitPickCentral #MCURewatch #DisneyPlus

Road To Avengers: Secret Wars A complete rewatch of every Marvel movie, show, one-shot, and special presentation. NitPickCentral’s Take on: The Punisher (2004) Rating: 5/10 ⸻ Marvel Context Coming during Marvel’s awkward pre-MCU experimentation era, The Punisher (2004) represents one of the studio’s earliest serious attempts at a grounded, emotionally driven comic book adaptation. Rather than chasing spectacle or fantasy, the movie leans heavily into grief, trauma, and revenge thriller storytelling — something that would later become a defining strength of projects like Daredevil and later versions of The Punisher. While the film never became a major franchise success, it has quietly built a cult following over time thanks to its sincerity, emotional core, and willingness to let Frank Castle feel broken instead of invincible. In hindsight, it feels like Marvel slowly learning how to treat its darker characters with more authenticity. ⸻ The Setup After undercover agent Frank Castle loses his entire family in a brutal act of retaliation orchestrated by crime boss Howard Saint, he abandons his old life and becomes The Punisher — a relentless vigilante determined to systematically destroy the empire and the people responsible for taking everything from him. ⸻ What Works • Thomas Jane delivers an emotionally grounded performance that captures Frank Castle as exhausted, hollow, and deeply traumatized rather than simply a walking action machine • The apartment fight with The Russian remains one of the most memorable and brutal action scenes in early Marvel history, largely because Frank actually feels vulnerable and overmatched throughout the fight • The movie works best as a revenge thriller first and superhero movie second, with Frank psychologically dismantling Howard Saint piece by piece instead of relying purely on violence ⸻ What Doesn’t • The tone constantly shifts between bleak tragedy, slapstick comedy, and early-2000s cheese, making it hard for the movie to maintain emotional momentum • John Travolta never fully feels intimidating enough as Howard Saint, especially compared to the emotional intensity Thomas Jane brings to Frank Castle • Certain subplots and comedic moments — particularly involving the neighbors — can feel underdeveloped or clash awkwardly with the darker material ⸻ Final Verdict The Punisher (2004) is a flawed but emotionally sincere Marvel adaptation that understands Frank Castle’s pain better than many superhero movies understand their own protagonists. Despite dated editing, uneven tone, and some questionable creative choices, the film’s emotional core and grounded approach help it stand out from many comic book movies of its era. “Frank Castle is at his most dangerous when he has absolutely nothing left.” ⸻ The Road Continues So far on the road to Avengers: Secret Wars, we’ve explored Marvel’s strange and uneven early years through Howard the Duck, The Punisher, Daredevil, and Elektra — movies that constantly struggled to balance comic book identity with grounded filmmaking. The Punisher (2004) feels like one of the clearest signs that Marvel was beginning to understand how powerful smaller-scale, character-focused storytelling could actually be. Next up on the road: another chapter in Marvel’s pre-MCU experimentation era as we continue diving through the successes, failures, and forgotten stepping stones that eventually shaped the modern superhero landscape. #RoadToSecretWars #Marvel #ThePunisher #Punisher2004 #FrankCastle #ThomasJane #MarvelReview #MovieReview #PreMCU #ComicBookMovies #MarvelFans #MCU #NitPickCentral #MovieTok #FilmTok #Podcast

@CabooseEK Not only misunderstand the characters, but people misunderstand the KIND of show that The Boys is. It’s never really been on a huge scale. The world is masterfully crafted and is impressive, but it never feels as big or as epic as these AI videos are wanting the show to be

Andrew’s Take On: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) Rating - 6/10 It’s no secret to those who know me that I have a complicated relationship with Star Wars as of late. The OT is the stuff of legend and the Prequels, despite their flaws, still are tried and true Star Wars to me. New, Disney-era Star Wars, however, has been more misses than hits for me. Strangely, The Mandalorian and Grogu fits somewhere in the middle of it all. It’s a movie that, for me, now completely negates the need to watch the very show it hails from. Everything you get in the tv series on Disney+ is exactly what you get here with the movie, except it looks, sounds, and plays way better here. It’s a movie that has the wide scope of a movie but the small scale of a tv show, both in how the movie progresses as well as the characters who populate the narrative. It has lively worlds with characters we like and action that beats out nearly anything seen in the show, but it doesn’t do much of anything with anything. We more or less are tagging along for yet another fun, space adventure with a man and his funny alien son, but nothing new is learned, gained, or experienced. The story thread of Din Djarin letting Grogu off the leash a little more and allowing him to grow into his own is nice enough and did give me a nice lil smile when I saw it and I’m glad I watched it, but again it’s nothing new I haven’t gotten somewhere else. But at the same time, it’s one of the best VERSIONS of what I’ve gotten from somewhere else. The action is top notch though and is one of this movie’s two strong links. The beginning set piece is one of the best scenes in the movie and the action only gets bigger and more kinetic as the movie goes on. The music is another strong point here, with some really cool and memorable tracks populating the score and it helps elevate some scenes. This movie has action, heart, humor, great music, pretty visuals, and a sense of adventure. This movie also has a thin story and plot, weak characters, and by far the smallest scale of a movie set in the galaxy far, far away and doesn’t cover any new ground, whether it’s on a story level, character level, or the franchise level. It’s a good night out at the movies, but it goes to show how low the bar has been set now for modern Star Wars. The franchise needed a shot of adrenaline, but only got a dose of pain killer here instead. #StarWars #TheMandalorian #TheMandalorianandGrogu #movie #review #Disney #Lucasfilm #GeorgeLucas

Steven Spielberg gives his thoughts on AI in filmmaking "I don't believe there is any substitute for the soul. I don't think that's an algorithm that is inventible ... don't tell me I don't have the right antagonist in this story, don't tell me how to write my dialogue, don't tell me where the camera has to go" "If AI wants to help me find locations, that's great. Saves us some leg work" "Use AI as a tool, but do not use AI as the final word on anything creative" (via @MichelleObama)

@NitPickCentral @tunechistark Peacemaker frequently justifies amoral acts, that's his entire thing. Soldier Boy is just a dick, but he has morals. Soldier Boy also DOESN'T see hero work as a chore, his ENTIRE newfound identity post V1 was BEING a soldier, BEING a hero. He thinks modern heroes are pussies
