Almost all ancient Greek texts we have today were preserved by the east Romans, the people you might know as medieval Greeks.
As The Cambridge Intellectual History of Byzantium says:
“the Byzantines were responsible for preserving almost all ancient Greek literature that we have today. Some texts survived through translations in other languages, stone inscriptions, or papyri, but they were a tiny minority compared to the volumes painstakingly copied out by Byzantine scribes over the duration of a millennium.
When we look at our “classical libraries” (the Loeb, Oxford Classical Texts, or Teubner collections) we are in fact looking at a Byzantine classical library.”

Modern Greeks think they're the descendants of ancient Greeks. The real descendants are of course us Germans. We were the ones that rediscovered the ancient Greek texts and translated them accurately. Apollo lived in Weimar. We uncovered the ruins of Troy.

To further add. Bithynia is directly named from the Bithyni, a Thracian people. Britannica says Bithynia was occupied by warlike tribes of Thracian origin, and the region sat between the Sea of Marmara, Bosporus, and Black Sea literally the Europe-to-Anatolia hinge.
