I've been reflecting on some significant milestones lately. January 31 marks not only my ex-wife's birthday but also the anniversary of my departure from Henkel, a place where I dedicated 32 years of my career. This date also holds the memory of my mother's passing, a solemn moment that resonates deeply with me as I was the sole companion by her side among my nine siblings.
Navigating the complexities of post-divorce arrangements, I find myself contemplating the allocation of Social Security benefits, considering the well-being of my ex-wife and our son who faces permanent disability. Despite the challenges and financial strains that have emerged post-separation, she has shown resilience and forgiveness, although the burden of debts in my name lingers, with her now sole-owning, and residing in the family home with ownership of the car while I continue to meet the mortgage obligations.
As I strive to ensure the security of both my ex, whom I've never held at fault, and my son, the journey post-Henkel has been a mix of nostalgia for an undeservedly lost cherished career and the realities of evolving family dynamics. The transition has been profound, prompting reflections on the past and considerations for the future.
