Me to Hawks fans advocating for the following
- Jaylen Brown trade
- Darius Acuff draft selection
- Trading Dyson Daniels away
- Regretting the Trae trade
Matt Olson is having a monster year. Leads all of MLB in WAR, RBIs and runs, is atop the National League with 13 home runs and just hit a go-ahead homer to dead center off Andrés Muñoz. Atlanta has the best record in MLB in large part because of Olson.
@bdub2333@JeffPassan And the Braves ARE healthy?
No Schwellenbach, no Waldrep, JUST got strider back, JUST got Murphy back, no Acuña rn, no Kim, iglesias just had an IL stint, Michael Harris missed a couple games…
Shall I continue?
@NCHobbitMan@StoolBaseball When did I say he’s been 2nd in MVP voting?
What I said was no matter how well he does in the next 5 seasons, he won’t win an MVP because of Ohtani… that’s just a fact.
@NoThanksGT@StoolBaseball Really? How many times has Olson finished second to Ohtani in MVP voting? How many times has he finished second to anyone in MVP voting in ANY season? (That would be zero)
I love Matt Olson and the Braves. If he can get to 60+ WAR he has a shot. It’s going to take past 35 though
@NCHobbitMan@StoolBaseball I would be SHOCKED if the HoF committee doesn’t recognize that almost all of Matt Olsons career was spent playing in the same league as the greatest player of all time (hence the 0 MVP’s)
If Olson ends with 400+ HR’s and 55 WAR and doesn’t make the HOF, then something is wrong
@NoThanksGT@StoolBaseball Chris Sale probably gets in because he has gaudy strikeout totals, a triple crown and pitchers will be held to a different standard in the future.
The other guys you mentioned are going to have those WAR totals AND have the hardware/narrative to push them over if needed.
@NCHobbitMan@StoolBaseball There are 48 players in between 50-60 WAR that are currently in the HOF
As well as guys like Jose Altuve, Bryce Harper, Chris Sale, Nolan Arenado…
Every single one of those guys mentioned is a future HOFer
Also, multiple people in the 40’s for WAR have made the HOF
@NoThanksGT@StoolBaseball Very few people get in the Hall of Fame without reaching 60-70 WAR. Matt is at 42 WAR at age 32.
To get there he needs to average 4 WAR per season over the next 5-6 years. He’s averaged 4.5 per year with the Braves while in his prime.
He has major work to do to have a chance.
@Crowee828@MrCoachRentz@TrillWilsosa That’s fine. Let him start the 6th
But the SECOND he gave up a 4 pitch walk to the leadoff batter, he should have been taken out.
If you don’t agree idk what to tell you
@ATLFUTURE1@Crack3rjax19 How would you rate the hawks tenure with our franchise players being a high offense, but no defense player? (2018-2024)
If you wouldn’t rate it an A, then why would we draft someone who has extremely similar strengths and weaknesses?
It would basically be like restarting.
My personal preferences go for the Hawks
1. AJ Dybansta
2. Darryn Peterson
3. Caleb Wilson
4. Cameron Boozer
5. Keaton Wagler
6. Mikel Brown Jr
7. Aday Mara
8. Jayden Quaintance
9. Kingston Fleming
10. Koa Peat
@ATLFUTURE1@Crack3rjax19 Offensively: Trae >>>>> Acuff
Defensively: Trae << Acuff
The difference in defense does not make up for the drop in offense.
The LAST thing the hawks need is another cone on defense. I don’t give a fuck how good they are offensively…we cannot restart with a bad defensive PG
@NoThanksGT@Crack3rjax19 ALL AROUND BETTER! How can we even be talking about a player (Trae) who is one of, if not, the worst defensive player in the league and also averages the most TOs in the league… trae ain’t the hill to die for on
@JustinR53119935@BravesSufferer Correct me if I’m wrong… Bummer didn’t give up any runs tonight…
Now he’s still bad. But tonight he didn’t do anything wrong
@NCHobbitMan@StoolBaseball 37???? That’s crazy. If he ends with 400 homeruns (only needs probably another 2-3 years to get there) and continues to play at an .860+ OPS each of his remaining years ON TOP OF his ELITE defense
Without a doubt he is in there by 35
@MrCoachRentz@TrillWilsosa It’s very clear though when a guy doesn’t have it.
You needed to take what you got from him. 5 scoreless was a HUGE win after the struggles he had with his command.
So why gamble… even if you send him back out for the 6th, after the first two reach, you HAVE to take him out
@TrillWilsosa Let the kid try and work through it. No issues. It's a long season and that confidence in him might pay dividends later (plus having multiple high leverage relievers down).
@ATLFUTURE1@Crack3rjax19 I’m assuming you believe Acuff is better defensively… because there is absolutely no way in hell he is anywhere close offensively
Jackets up 7-0 early!
I know it’s never too safe to call a series over with, but I think it’s safe to say the Jackets responded well to the game 1 loss.
The boys are back on track.
@NoThanksGT@King_Szn10@NebbieJ14 out of all the negative tech fans, i’ve never seen one run themselves in circles to say we should be ranked lower than we are than you dude in ANY sport
