@pete65796814965 @DanicaPriest Load the company with debt, stop paying tax and suppliers but keep paying yourself. Company goes bust, owners restart with a clean slate often buying assets of old company at a reduced price

Stories about bat tunnels and fish discos are there to distract you from the developer lobbying going on that’s the real problem with housing affordability. If they can get you angry at bats you won’t blame the billionaires and the exploitation continues.
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

This government can't be trusted to end the housing crisis because its ministers are bought and paid for by the developers, landlords and corporate interests who profit from it.

We would like to take this opportunity to publically apologise for @Youngy316’s performance on Sunday. It has since been brought to our attention that Rollin Menayese did not score for Grimsby during the 20/21 season…. Appropriate disciplinary action has been instigated by our HR team #gtfc

I think the biggest shock to Chinese leadership over the last 10 years is the dawning realization that they had VASTLY overestimated intelligence and compentency of American leadership

Wrong. The issue is not that Cuba chose socialism. The issue is that the Constitution declares socialism “irrevocable.” That means the Cuban people are not allowed to peacefully change their political or economic system, even if they want to. Who gives power to the state? The people do. So why does the state forbid the people from changing the system through free and competitive elections? A system that must legally forbid change is admitting it fears the will of its own people. This is why Cuba suffers 👇🏼. This tyrannical mindset that people are not allowed to change their government or economic system.

For nearly 70 years the USA has strangled Cuba because they committed the single greatest crime in the American mind: being socialists. Still, Cuba resists. They would rather cook on coal and walk for miles than subjugate themselves to the USA’s imperial aggression. Inspiring.

This chart helps to understand why young people around the world increasingly turn their backs to established political parties. They feel the system isn’t working for them. We haven’t lived in such old societies until now and must adjust our economic models. This means politics and economics are in flux. I expect old parties everywhere to die while new parties emerge. Established parties must reinvent themselves.

They were starving. The cotton was right there. They refused to touch it. Lancashire, 1862.🇬🇧 The cotton mills that clothed the world. The cotton came from American slave plantations. Then the Civil War began. Lincoln blockaded the Southern ports. The cotton stopped coming. 331,000 people lost their jobs. The most prosperous workers in Britain were queuing for charity soup. Children went hungry. Everyone expected them to break. Demand the government side with the slaveholders. Get the cotton flowing again. They didn't. New Year's Eve, 1862. Manchester Free Trade Hall. Workers packed the hall. Hungry. Unemployed. Freezing. The Manchester Guardian told them not to come. They came anyway. They voted to support Lincoln. To keep the blockade. To keep starving. They refused to buy their survival with someone else's chains. Lincoln wrote back. He called it "sublime Christian heroism which has not been surpassed in any age or in any country." Then he sent ships full of food to Lancashire. There's still a statue of Lincoln in Manchester. His words are still on it. But here's what most people don't know. That hall, the Free Trade Hall, was built on the exact site of the Peterloo Massacre. In 1819, cavalry charged into working people on that same ground. Demanding the right to vote. At least fifteen killed. Same ground. Same working people. Two generations apart. In 1819 they were cut down for asking to be heard. In 1862 their children chose to starve for someone else's freedom. Lancashire. Every time. Help us get the stories of our ancestors out of the archives and into the people. 👉 proudofus.co.uk/support No sponsors. No ads. Just us. Be part of us. Be proud of us. 🇬🇧
