@NoahTopper @vtlynch1 I don’t find your post annoying but I would agree that “dumb pipe” is meant as a technical term here and is not meant as an insult. It’s saying - just move the data from one place to another (i.e. act as a pipe) and don’t alter or analyze in any way (i.e. be dumb).

@Uber Got this message (from Princess??), then when I shared my payment info they just said “nah”. I’m genuinely just trying to do right by them but they won’t take my money or my business. 😭

@Uber I reached out to their support to explain the situation, but they didn’t really understand it and just wanted me to pay. So whatever, I started paying them off as they came up. Then a few days ago they suddenly deactivated my account. 😞

So about three years ago my friend ordered Uber Eats for us using my phone. And it turns out her credit card became my default card on Uber ever since then… So long story short, I owe her $1370 dollars 😭

This is closer to a call to violence than anything I recall seeing from anyone in AI safety ever. "mfw" means "my face when", and the background of the guy with the gun is the same as his profile picture. The "joke" is that he's going to shoot people if they try and pause AI.

And I think “what you’d updatelessly commit to” depends on the nature of certain logical counterfactuals, so they also have to grapple with the same issues.
