Bear is a victim of the wish and wish Nikki like everyone else, surely not the vilain

thinking about this scene and how nikki was opening up to bear because she trusted him with things she never dared to say to anyone else (which is exactly what she said to him), and the SAME NIGHT he robbed her of her entire self and everything she trusted him with…

@YA0iYURi @eugRoe @zoeyduatch Which is true I agree but throughout the movie the plot progressed very reasonably. You wouldn't act very different, none of us will if suddenly magic and what not fictious concept becomes a reality. We wouldn't believe it at all so it makes sense

obsession was really terrifying bc one man became infatuated with the idea of a woman for years and feels entitled to her and makes a wish that she'll fall in love with him more than anyone else in the entire world and when his wish comes true he doesn't care that she's not in control of herself while they're together and that it was not consensual. he wanted her to be devoted to him so she could cater to his unfulfilled needs until she became inconvenient. when she becomes "too much" he wishes for her to be normal and genuinely believes he's the victim in a situation he created. this movie has me thinking about the larger societal framing of how people view women who are emotionally reactive as dangerous and uncredible, when in reality, they are trying to deal with the trauma of being put in harmful and violent situations by predatory and abusive men.

@r_brauns @theobromic_ When Nikki asked Bear to kill her all her friends were still alive and she didn't commit any crime but be obsessed. Bear chose not to kill an innocent girl who still can get her life back, everything after that moment snowballed and wish Nikki wasn't gonna kill herself. Ok?

the fucked up part is that letting her kill herself would have been far kinder than what he actually did

На самом деле самым страшным в Обсессии была постельная сцена, которая по сути являлась насилием. Этот пустой взгляд принадлежал Никки, а голос – той одержимой сущности. Ужасно.

That’s why he kept wussing out of shooting himself and poisoning himself, because both of those would bring pain to HIM, not regarding the pain Nikki has been going through all this time.

The One Wish Willow didn't create a new entity; it channeled the closest source of unconditional devotion available, which was Bear's dead cat, Sandy, who had just died from the pills. When Nikki says "My cat died", it’s literally Sandy’s consciousness experiencing post-manifestation confusion before adjusting to Nikki’s vocal cords. It explains why she later digs up the corpse to make the sandwich, why she pees on the floor, and why she literally vomits up cat food later. It’s an explicit soul-transference mechanic, not a memory stitch. Rewatch it. #Obsession

@maznandoo @eugRoe @zoeyduatch Accountability for a bad wish? How do you even do that? He tried changing it when he realized, didn't work. He tried killing himself to save her, which is already tough. And the only other option was to kill her which wouldn't have been right either.

@eugRoe @zoeyduatch Wrong. At first he’s confused and eventually comes to regret the fact that she is an inconvenience for her. He wanted to cancel the wish, not for her, but for his peace. He refuses to take accountability for this actions multiple times throughout the film.
