@TheRealJamieKay If you have oil to sell you generate lots of revenue in taxes which gives the government more leeway to lower fuel tax.

When the UK rejoins the EU the boost to the British economy will be around £90 billion a year.

The Green Party isn't far left or extreme left. It has common sense, mildly left-wing policies that the Labour Party used to have. It's not far left to care.

This is ridiculous. Britain is a nation of dog lovers. 13.5 million dogs. Over a third of households. Dogs in pubs. Dogs in cafes. Dogs in shops. It’s part of who we are. And now the BBC are asking if it’s “gone too far”? No. What’s gone too far is the leftist media constantly picking apart normal British life. Dogs make places better. They are part of British culture. If you don’t like it, you can GTFO.

@Altcoinbuzzio Doesn't work with a volatile asset like bitcoin. If you borrowed $100,000 against your BTC at $200,000 there is every chance BTC could drop back down to $80,000 which would then get you margin called and liquidated.

YOU ARE LETTING THE GOVERNMENT TAKE 37% OF YOUR BITCOIN GAINS. LEGALLY. FOR NO REASON. Sarah buys $50,000 in Bitcoin. It grows to $200,000. She sells. The IRS takes $55,650. She keeps $144,350. Now watch what happens when she does it correctly. Sarah buys $50,000 in Bitcoin inside a Solo 401(k). It grows to $200,000. She doesn't sell. She borrows $100,000 against it through a crypto-backed loan at 1% APR. Tax paid: $0. Bitcoin sold: 0. Cash in hand: $100,000. Bitcoin still growing: $200,000. When she retires and her income drops, she converts portions to a Roth IRA at the lowest tax bracket. Withdrawals after 59.5 become tax-free. Forever. The first Sarah paid $55,650 in taxes and lost her Bitcoin position permanently. The second Sarah paid $0, kept her Bitcoin, borrowed against it, and set up tax-free withdrawals for life. Same $50,000. Same Bitcoin. Two completely different financial outcomes. The difference isn't income. It's structure. The wealthy have used borrow-against-don't-sell strategies with real estate for decades. Bitcoin just became the best collateral asset in history. And Fannie Mae just started accepting it for mortgages. The tax code didn't change. The asset menu did. Stop selling. Start structuring.

Following on the rent vs buy debate: £300,000 house. → Mortgage interest: £12,000/year → Maintenance: £3,000/year → Insurance: £800/year → Stamp duty: £10,000 upfront → Total real cost: £25,000+ year one £300,000 in the Nasdaq instead. → Average 15% annual return = £45,000/year → No boiler breakdowns → No roof repairs → No estate agent fees when you sell Someone else fixes the boiler. Someone else pays the buildings insurance. Someone else handles the maintenance. Renting isn’t throwing money away IF your money is working hard elsewhere. Sometimes it’s the smartest trade in the room.

@implausibleblog Is this guy a moron or what? Landlords spend money back into the economy, it won't generate £18bil if the money is coming from the people who already spend and buy things.

Zack Polanski calls for rent controls, "If we froze rents in Autumn 2022 households would save £3,300 per year" "That's £18 billion of purchasing power back into pockets of people" "Money that could be spent on local businesses, buying a coffee on the way to work, or a few pints at the end of a hard week" "Instead, straight into landlords pockets" "Leaving our high streets hollowed out" "And our Green MP Carla Denyer has been raising the alarm on this scandal" "We need to bring in rent control" "We would stop the choke hold of rip off rents and bring life back into our communities"

Millions watching an AI video of Jeremy Clarkson beating up Keir Starmer. It might seem like a 'joke' but normalising violence in politics damages our democracy. I'm calling for an urgent Digital Human Rights Bill to protect people’s identity and likeness online.
