Keir Starmer rightly receives a standing ovation from the entire House as he bids farewell to Parliament. He will go down as a genuinely honourable public servant, and one of the most unfairly maligned leaders in modern British politics. He became a target of a new wave of politics driven by hostility, misinformation and propaganda, designed not to strengthen democracy, but to erode trust in it, whose goal is to concentrate power into the hands of those with the greatest wealth, resources and influence.

@Iran_TVv Anyone thinking this is possible has never been to the RAK mountains or understand basic engineering. The only viable bypass is a pipeline.

@MichaelRosenYes It’s a message. It’s a warning. It’s posturing to make people scared to speak the truth. IT WILL NOT WORK. Fuck ALL the governments who are complicit and have helped whitewash this genocide. One day Israel won’t be tolerated by any international govs. It WILL flip.

How to figure out why the government has done this? Because they are afraid that we the people might listen to Piker and Uygur? Because the govt is afraid of hostile press? Afraid of what the US will say or do? What's going on?
JewishVoiceForLiberation@JVoiceLiberatio

UK government sinks even lower in its attempts to stifle criticism of Israel Listen to Piker on Jewish Currents podcast and make up your own mind if he is really antisemitic episodes.captivate.fm/episode/ff461b… American political commentators Cenk Uygur and Hasan Piker have been barred from entering Britain to speak at the Oxford Union and the SXSW London festival, saying the move was a result of their criticism of Israel middleeasteye.net/news/uk-revoke…

The concerns I raised about Gaza - including distressing eyewitness accounts from UK medics - were a result of moral urgency, not 'mid life crisis'. It felt like hitting a brick wall at the time - now I know how casually those concerns were dismissed. theguardian.com/politics/2026/…

@huspsa @wesstreeting @zubirahmed How about banning Israeli weapons factories from operating on UK soil, instead of locking up the people protesting them.

@wesstreeting @zubirahmed The UK Government has zero ability to control what Israel does tho. Every step that it could take, recognising a Palestinian state and copying what France and Canada were doing, was taken. It’s worth resisting the ugly far left and Islamist lie that the UK govt controls Israel.

And yes I get that people will say Reform would do the same. I’m not sure. Probably. But that doesn’t mean voting for Labour anyway. The freedom of speech clampdowns should be a MASSIVE 🚩For ALL of us. We have to say no now before it’s too late.

THIS is why voting Labour to hold back reform in GE is a NO for many of us on left @MarinaPurkiss @TheTrawlPodcast We can’t bow to authoritarianism from ANY party. This is just the start, left media will be next. PS love you guys, just wanted to share this perspective ❤️
Owen Jones@owenjonesjourno

The UK ban on @hasanpiker and @cenkuygur is deeply disturbing for many reasons. One: another assault on free speech, and specifically pro-Palestinian speech. The assault on pro-Palestinian speech is the biggest assault on free speech in the West since McCarthyism 7 decades ago.

@implausibleblog The judge should be dis-barred & sentencing guidelines overhauled. Rapists belong behind bars regardless of circumstances. Anonymity for sexual, violent & abuse offences also needs to be removed. I don't give a fuck if they're 14.

Ranvir Singh, "Judge Nicholas Rowland said about three teenage boys, who were convicted of, between them, 10 counts of rape" "Two different girls, one at knifepoint" "Forcibly taken, raped. They filmed it, on both occasions" "They've been community orders, and not prison" The full 12 minute discussion on this case. And I can't help but wonder that if the judge got this wrong, how many other cases has he got equally wrong?

@nickboocock @richardosefton Whilst I agree there will always be a degree of sway by media/socials against every leader, There are however plenty of legit reasons for many across the entire political spectrum to hate Starmer. You may not feel strongly about some of those reasons, but others do.

@richardosefton Agree. I can almost allow the disengaged being indifferent to Starmer because he’s a bit dull/serious. Not amusing or chummy like Johnson. But ‘hatred’ of him is confected. And is mainly on here. There is nothing to hate about him unless you’ve been fed bogus reasons to do so.
