Although Peter Lorre was thrilled to play such a major part in Fritz Lang's "M" (1931), he came to hate it later in life as people tended to associate him with being a child murderer in real life. Peter Lorre said, "Ever since I came to this country (USA), I’ve been trying to live down my past. That picture “M” has haunted me everywhere I’ve gone." (Quote from "The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre", Stephen D. Youngkin, 2005) P.S: On this day, 95 years ago, "M" (1931) premiered in Berlin, Germany.

Boyhood, like measles, is one of those complaints which a man should catch young and have done with, for when it comes in middle life it is apt to be serious.

It’s 42 years since Diego Maradona morphed into the Karate Kid, ironed out the Bilbao keeper, and caused a riot during the Copa Del Rey final. Bring yer dinner.

Britain BACK TO THE 1970s? Don't threaten us with a good time!🕺🇬🇧💃 💪Average annual GDP growth of 2.7% across the decade 💪Productivity growth consistent with post-war trend line (2.3%pa) 💪Real wage/household disposable income growth of 30% across decade (higher than RHDI growth across '60s/'80s) 💪200k-300k houses built every year for 15m fewer people 💪Falling national debt-to-GDP ratio (~50% – today it's 100% and rising) 💪North Sea revenues about to start 💪"Family silver"/national assets still in British public ownership I'd swap all that + some dysfunctional industrial relations + filthy streets/planned blackouts + bad food, over whatever we've had since 2008, i.e: ~20yrs of 0% productivity growth; 20yrs of ~0% real wage growth; a housing affordability crisis; utilities & core strategic sectors sold off to foreign buyers; + a FDI/trade-dependent open market economy about to enter a period of competitive economic nationalism/Great Power rivalry/deglobalisation, having just stagnated and done nothing for 2 decades.
