Please help me. Our country should not be like this. Yesterday, I was coming from Graniteside, Harare, passing the Mupedzanhamo traffic lights. I stopped at the red light as usual. The green light was broken, so I waited until the red light went off before proceeding. The police stopped me anyway, saying I had gone through a red light. I explained that the other lights were not working and I only moved when the red light had gone off. Five police officers from Mbare Police station then forced their way into my car and told me to go with them to the station. They said this offence didn’t even deserve a fine, but it carries jail time. They then demanded US$150 for me to be released. I offered US$30, and they said US$50. I then offered US$20 via EcoCash, but they refused and said I must pay the US$30 that I had. They then said I should pay US$1 at the gate, which I didn’t have because they had already taken all my cash. They gave me the US$1 and told me I could leave. I was arrested at 11 am and released at 2 pm. @PoliceZimbabwe
