This Saturday’s game brings an end to one of the most thrilling, exciting and unpredictable title races in football history. Both ourselves and Rochdale have the chance to write our names in National League history. The National League is no longer a non-league competition. It is effectively a League 3, with fully professional clubs operating at a level equal to or higher than many of those in League 2. We both understand how important this game is to both clubs and supporters. We both pledge now that whatever happens tomorrow, we will both continue to fight for 3UP. Both clubs sit on over 100 points. One of us will have to fight once more in the National League Play-Offs. However, we both strongly believe that this shouldn’t have to be the case. We call on the National League, Football Regulator, EFL and Premier League to come together immediately and resolve this issue, so that we do not have to highlight this injustice year after year. For both sets of supporters attending the Crown Oil Arena this weekend, we say thank you for being with us all season. The passion you’ve shown for both clubs has been felt across the world. This game will be seen far and wide. We want to showcase this league for all its potential. Keep your support in the stands, not on the pitch, and let’s all protect the game we love. Thank you! 🗣️ 𝗔 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗲 As the season draws towards its final weeks, we at Basford United will, for the first time since 2018–19, be playing meaningful top-end-of-the-table games in April. This was not expected or set as an objective as we entered the 2025/26 campaign, when I said let’s stabilise and win more than we lose. The change in management to Gandi & Saul was a major decision that I took, and the rest is history, with just 6 defeats in 27 league games. As we go into the run-in, everyone in the playing staff will be showing signs of tiredness and fatigue. That is to be expected at any club after 45+ games, as demonstrated by almost every team at the top end of the NPL Midlands Division, made tougher by what has been a harsh winter. So as we look towards late March/April, we ask for one major push from everyone in and around, or supporting, the football club. The fans have shown us, through your outstanding support, how you have lifted Gandi and the lads. We ask for one last big push to hopefully get us over the line and into the playoffs. The task is massive and, as an example, the next four league games all represent fixtures you could expect to see in a playoff final. It won’t be easy, so we ask everyone to dig deep and show the spirit and support that has served us so well this season. We seek our fans and the support of Nottingham to turn up, shout your team on, and take advantage of the concession offers such as double Happy Hour and membership cards when in operation at home games. Turn up early, leave late, and understand that your actions and support can prove the difference. It’s exciting times at Greenwich Avenue, let’s make this place a fortress for the next month and hopefully into the playoffs.
