when the online rightwinger starts talking about how classical heroes were manly and stoic and paragons of virtue you have to realise theyre not actually talking about achilles or odysseus but about master chief from halo 2

@yishan These are called closed head orbital welders. They've been around for years now. You still need a welder to properly operate them because there's a lot of nuances when it comes to different materials, angles, finishes, etc. Theyre also not appropriate in every circumstance.

@KellyEm33 @RyanBelleman @RT_com I think the implication was not that it was a nuclear explosion, but an explosion at a facility that held nuclear material. That could mean the spread of nuclear particulates into the atmosphere, kinda like chernobyl.

@SAAS1972N @OmarBaddar Just because you choose to ignore the people starving in countries with billionaires doesn't mean they dont exist. In the US, for example, malnutrition deaths have exploded 600% between 2024 and 2025. You choose to ignore the suffering of those you deem lesser than human.

First, in the lands inhabited by the billionaires about which you complain, no one is starving. There’s plenty of food for everyone. Second the problems in “distribution“ are caused entirely by people like you who believe that a government an authority of self-appointed geniuses should be distributing food to people. This is the model used in Africa, where there are no billionaires and everyone is starving. There are plenty of rich Africans, but they’ve basically stolen the money from the poor and the charities that they’re serving them. mr. Chavez followed a similar model in Venezuela. NGOs that just collect salaries and do nothing while the people suffer. Africa could use a few billionaires

If we were a small community of 50 people & one person decided to hoard half the collective food available while several people were starving, we'd immediately recognize the grotesque unfairness. But when you scale up to 350 million people & diffuse the injustice, you start believing that some people "earned" their billions while millions of people who work infinitely harder deserve not being able to have basic financial security.

I think someone can become a billionaire by creating over a billion dollars worth of value.

The collapse of trust in science is going to go down in history as one of the most sad, bizarre, and destructive social contagions of modern times. We fed billions, cured diseases and powered nations - yet people ran toward conspiracies instead.

I like that building high speed rail in California requires nine thousand years of environmental impact studies but throwing up a data center the size of Texas takes fourteen seconds with zero material public support.

@OrevaZSN Ok. You blame capitalism, fossil fuel, etc. Now look at the US 100 years ago. Put more attention to children 5-6 years old with torn clothes, visibly not eating enough working in factories 12 hours per day 6 days per week so their families can eat almost every day and compare.

Different salaries should only affect how luxurious your life is, not your food quality or ability to afford rent. If you work 40 hours at any job, your income should be enough to live in the town you work in. Thinking otherwise is an abysmal indicator of your humanity.

@emilykmay Women electricians? Men nurses? Women engineers? Men stylists? Women construction workers? Men baristas? All working class and valid. From each according to their ability. We have all been blinded by centuries of propaganda to drive us apart and not focus on the real problem.

@emilykmay ...roll out massive propaganda campaigns to promote the "nuclear family" and have men pressure women to give up factory jobs so as to maintain the status-quo. We should just let people figure out what they want to do without gender biased judgement. 2/?

if men stopped doing all the heavy duty, necessary, dirty jobs that make the world run...women would do them. we already know this, it happened in WWII. if women stopped doing the thankless, routine care work that makes the world go round, vulnerable people would be neglected.

“But you survived.” I dissociate, like, a lot. My heart drops when someone raises their voice. I shut down very easily. I’m far too observant. I always feel like a burden. I isolate often. But yeah, sure. I guess I survived.
