Morning all. Today, I woke up to discover my phone had updated. In IOS 26.4.2, you must put your ID into your phone to access certain features and services. Previously, you would enter your ID when necessary, when you are accessing the specific 18+ app or website, or confirming your identity when filing a report (for example). This is a result of the Online Harms Bill. You do not parent your own children - the government will do that for you. This also seems to be the introduction of a digital ID.

I guess personal information isn't worth protecting? Whats your credit card number and pin? You miss the point. Right now it's just age, but it will evolve and require you to give up more and more identifiying information just to use a device you own. Enough is never enough for the governemt, they always want more.

Same goes for apps, payment cards, membership cards etc. Very naive to think the data collected is used for your benefit
