@untouchablejay4 He may or may not have apologized to her personally. You don’t know do you? Now shut up with the assumptions.

Would’ve seemed more genuine if he had apologized to COACH STALEY personally.

Turning to you for help. I'm looking for a segment name: I'm trying a new segment on Extra Innings. It's a short segment that brings up a random #Reds player from the past. I put together notes, stats, trivia, moments, etc. The idea is to simply spark a memory, maybe a meeting, and discuss the player. I used Adam Dunn, Tracy Jones and Jay Bruce this week. I started with "Reds Remembered" That's not bad, but kind of makes it sound like the player is no longer with us. I kind of like Reds Retro. Ideas?

Who else in baseball history was as effortlessly cool as Reggie Smith? Gotta be a pretty short list

@notgaetti Thank you NG!!!! One of the most underrated players all time. I remember in late 2024 I asked for a Reg Smith NG and you already had identified him - my miss. A clutch switch hitter, excellent glove/arm. Besides he is a top 10 coolness guy without even trying.

@notgaetti Nuance. In 2019 MLB required teams to publicly disclose their lineup for the game in the morning (due to legalized gambling). KC had no choice but to address the issue as Jensen was listed the starter. Prior to 2019 it likely would have stayed in house.

Should the Royals have kept Carter Jensen’s sleepgate matter private and just handled it in house, or is it okay that they made a public example of this teachable moment? (I don’t have a strong opinion either way; I don’t think they handled it badly, but clubhouse code, I guess.)

@wjeffpetty Having the right scout willing to fight for you becoming a player in the organization and having a PD person in the organization later who is also fighting for you makes all the difference in the world.

I did say scouts don’t care what team you play for I stand by that firm. If you play for an organization that is connected & has more contacts it certainly doesn’t hurt your cause. Yes cream rises to top regardless but if you have connected people in your corner it doesn’t hurt.

@hallofgoodpod Yep. Crazy not to take this deal. Contracts can always be restructured to pay him more if he excels.

@VandyonTigers Definitely an interesting choice. I can’t ever recall someone being promoted up this quickly since Robin Yount. And it turned out pretty good for him. Not counting guys who played long college careers. Incaviglia, Olerud, etc..

Who’s the genius in the Pirates org that thought a TEENAGER with less than 100 ABs in AA was ready for the big leagues? 🤦‍♂️ That’s not development — that’s setting a kid up to get exposed

@BaseballAmerica I know many MLB players who are still best friends with guys that unfortunately never made it. I’m talking stars. Sharing those struggles together bonded them for life.

Minor league pay has changed significantly in just a few years. In 2019, players at the lowest levels made as little as $290 per week and were only paid during the season, in some cases totaling under $4,000 for the year. In 2026, salaries range from $710 to $1,250 per week, with most players earning between $18K and $44K annually. Players are now paid nearly year-round, with housing and meals covered for much of that time. It’s real progress. But for many, it still means tight budgets, shared housing and a long grind chasing a big league opportunity. buff.ly/dmWQgzb
