@pimitopomo It's a mess. Probably some of them think it's symbolic and let it show in their talks (eg Geoffrey Jackson) while others clearly stick to the literalist reading. To the listener, looks like these are ups and downs but I believe it's just their different views.

Interesting to see that in the 2026 Memorial Morning Worship by Mark Sanderson, they’re still doubling down on the literal 144,000. At some point, like many teachings before it, this one will probably need to shift. But for now they seem to reinforce it rather than softening it.

My algorithm has changed a lot lately showing Catholics vs Protestants. I had no idea about the irrational disgust Protestants have for Catholics. I had no idea Evangelicals thought Catholics were not Christian. These theology battles are so weird.
