More than 600,000 households across the country are now getting paid more in benefits than the average family earns from work. And it's the working people who are being taxed to cover the cost. We can't keep squeezing hard-working people to pay for those who don’t work.

This is like how landlords don't understand that having the mortgage on an asset paid for by their renters is profit for the owner even if they don't end up with extra cash at the end of every month.

@N3WO123 @darren_cullen If I bought a house and sold it the day it came through for the exact same price, I would get nothing (I’d probably owe the bank money). If I buy my house and keep it for 5 years, that build up equity would be mine when I sell it. That’s the exact same for landlords.

@JamesPearceLFC Doesn’t change a thing about the match, but I’m not really sure how VAR allowed their second goal, it looks quite clear that it hits his hand in the replays

HT: Manchester United 2 #LFC 0: Dismal first half performance from Liverpool. Started so badly and paid the price as Cunha and Sesko punished them. Marginal improvement since then but still nowhere near good enough. Slot has to change the system. Created next to nothing.

Does t change anything, Liverpool are shit and deserve to be 2 down, but I have no idea how that Sesko goal doesn’t constitute handball?

> be UK PlayStation user > bought the console. paid full price > 2026: Online Safety Act passes > Sony picks Yoti to verify you're an adult > Yoti just got fined €950k by Spain > for mishandling biometric data > options: face scan. ID. or phone contract > PAYG sim doesn't qualify > not the bill payer? doesn't qualify > account 20 years old? verify anyway > June 2026: voice chat locked if you refuse > Sony in 2011: 77M PSN accounts breached > Sony in 2026: trust us with your face > "for the players" still the slogan Adult enough to pay full price. Not adult enough to use the features.
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

PlayStation is facing huge backlash over its new age check rules for UK users, some users say their console is almost unusable now To comply with the Online Safety Act, Sony now requires players to prove their age using a face scan with Yoti, a government ID, or a phone number. This is needed to use voice chat, party chats, messaging, broadcasting, and multiplayer features on PS5 and PS4 consoles. Single-player games can still be played without checking, but social and chat features will be locked from June 2026. Sony has had major data leaks before, and Yoti has been fined for data problems. Long-time players are asking why they must prove their age now. Some UK adults do not want face scans saying this breaks consumer rights by removing features people already paid for.

@wobblybobenglan @BBCNews I don’t know enough about martens, but is there a reasonable way to reintroduce them in green belt areas that won’t spread to more densely populated areas where the chewing of car wiring is less of an issue

@BBCNews They will thrive anywhere you get these critters who will kill grey squirrel which are not nimble enough to escape them. So reintroduce martens and get ready to watch them chew all the wiring in your cars. They are wonderful beasts but they are a problem.

@troyvegas58 @Miguel640283347 @RabbidTheNabb1t Ok but why would a “party of antisemites” vote him as leader? You don’t seem to have a consistent logic around what antisemitism is. You already said you don’t think antisemites care if a Jewish person practices the religion, so why would they change their vote?

I feel like i'm going insane The entire political spectrum, from center to far right (Lab-Lib-Con-Reform-Restore) are all trying to destroy the greens. The uniparty has never been more real. If greens still do well on 7 May, expect the smears to go nuclear

No it's exactly for now- they can't take a job where they get issued a stabproof vest as standard and then say they can't be judged on how they dealt with a situation involving a knife. That's the job! Like if a fireman was like "woah, don't criticise me, I was near a fire today"
Karl Turner MP@KarlTurnerMP

Split-second decisions in dangerous situations aren’t made with the benefit of hindsight. Our officers put themselves in harm’s way to keep the public safe. They deserve support, not second-guessing. If questions are to be asked, that’s not for now. 2/3

So, @PlayStation is basically unusable for me now. The UK Online Safety Act means I have to hand over a face scan or government ID just to use basic features. My PAYG mobile isn't accepted, and I’m not giving biometrics to a company with a history of massive data breaches. #Ps5

The leader of an illegal streaming gang sentenced to 11 years in prison will face a further 10 years behind bars if he does not return £2.35million within the next three months. Mark Gould - who was convicted of providing pirated Premier League streams via the Flawless service in 2023 - was ordered to forfeit the proceeds of the operation via a confiscation order issued by Derby Crown Court earlier this week. The pirate organisation - which had 30 employees and generated 50,000 customers - made in excess of £7m in five years and investigations have continued since the initial sentencing. @DavidCWOwens @breadandposes If they were restraining him, that would be different, restraining someone doesn’t involve kicking them in the head. The UK does not have the death penalty, so it is the bare minimum that he’s alive, no matter the crime. A policeman’s job isn’t to kill people.

@NoodleHouseAlex @breadandposes I frankly find it absurd the number of people who would have preferred to see the police take a greater risk of being stabbed Pro tip - if you want to avoid being violently restrained, don’t stab people The fact he’s alive at all is a bonus he doesn’t deserve
