If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via @thediscourse study.
This isn’t just about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice.

True but isn‘t that already the case for multithreaded programming? In-place data corruption or copy-and-sync corruption are just two sides of the distribution problem
Malcolm Sparks@malcolmsparks
The choice to build a distributed system has become something of a default these days. If architects and engineers really understood the consequences of this decision, I'm sure that many would reconsider. martinfowler.com/articles/patte…

The unexplainable urge to play with SmallTalk 😬
Even if it's old, it looks really different from modern mainstream programming languages and, in some ways, feels innovative.
Does anyone have any experience? Any thoughts to share?

@tottinge I think you mixed „one thing a human wants to do“ with „one thing the machine needs to do“. A might be a necessity if you have a performance problem AND a stupid interpreter/compiler. Apart from that if I want to do whatever with all the items then B is the most expressive way.
