@TELUSsupport I have "Pay-per-minute Long Distance" on my home phone. My bill makes no mention of this. Is it purely "pay as you go"? Why is this month $17 but last month $15 for home phone?

@a_leesha1 @almubin Yemen is indeed a tragedy. Why single out Britain when there are so many countries involved? A deeper and broader analysis of the problem can only lead to faster and better solutions.

@Ramesh__Ranjan @voteprbc Our current system is better than PR. We have 1 MLA per riding -- perfectly fair, democratic and reasonable. Plus, PR has higher risk of instability, higher risk of extremist parties in coalitions, reduced local representation, reduced significance of total votes cast.

Turnout is at 18% now, bud. Just 1 day after your 'prediction'. With 2 weeks to go in the referendum, there's momentum for #ProRep as British Columbians realize that all 3 options under PR are better than the current system. #PR4BC #bcpoli @voteprbc

@BCNDPCaucus @Ramesh__Ranjan The past 2 refernda (2005, 2009) on voting reform required 60% popular vote and 60% of ridings to change the status quo. Any society (corporation) requires 2/3 or 3/4 vote to change a bylaw. The current referendum is unethical.

With turnout at 40% in the #prorep referendum, participation has surpassed every arbitrary marker Andrew Wilkinson has set. He’s running out of excuses. It’s time for him to commit to respecting the choice British Columbians make. #bcpoli #pr4bc bit.ly/2rlrG6y

@voteprbc @Ramesh__Ranjan @Willie_Mitch33 Our current system is just as democratic -- 1 MLA per riding. PR has many down sides: higher risk of instability, higher risk of extremist influence, disadvantaged independent candidates, reduced local representation

@leerathje @Ramesh__Ranjan @ElectionsBC Electing 1 MLA per riding is fair and democratic, has stronger local representation, independent candidates are full players, regional parties are full players and governments are more decisive. PR only gets you more parties in government and higher risk of instability.

@fairvotingbc It is a lot easier for extremists to get elected under PR -- all they'd need is 5% of the popular vote. A PR system will encourage such parties to organize and run. Their appeal is heightened during difficult economic times.

@voteprbc @acoyne Human nature is not going to magically change with ProRep. If coalition-building worked, 2-party coalition governments would be more stable. They are not. Productive coalition building is just wishful thinking or propaganda, especially under the 3,4 or more party PR coalitions

@voteprbc @yskevinhuang ProRep weakens our decomacracy in many ways: Unstable coalition governments. MLAs unelected by the district they represent. Regional parties at a disadvantage to province-wide parties. Fringe parties, anathema, to democracy, get a toe hold in the legislature.

@SOSGabriola @voteprbc @sjandrews76 @nathancullen All governments make mistakes -- ProRep or otherwise. You need to compare the details of the two voting systems to make an informed choice. If you choose ProRep out of anger, you are throwing out the baby with the bath water.

@voteprbc @nathancullen Every vote counts for the party, but not for you. Local representation is weakened. That is not good for you. Coalition governments are unstable and weak. That is not good for you. Fringe parties get footholds. That is not good for you.

@voteprbc @shonifield You hold a politician accountable by having him/her elected in a riding and him/her serve in that riding, as in FPTP. With ProRep, ridings get represented by MLAs who were not elected in that riding, or, worse, were not elected anywhere, but were appointed by the party. Vote No

@voteprbc @acoyne Don't waste your time "choosing" between the 3 ProRep options. Just vote, "No" to ProRep. The 3 options are not even fully specified. What about party lists of unelected MLAs? If a party wants a seat in the legislature, let the party win a riding. That's fair.
