@cliverg383678 @kiwiweetbixkid1 @MurfittTauranga You are probably quoting the very debatable & highly inaccurate "covid" deaths... if you look at excess deaths from all causes, which is what matters the most, Sweden did much better than us in the end.
So yes, it was all for nothing.

English

@kiwiweetbixkid1 @MurfittTauranga Sweden actually had one of the higher death rates in Europe, certainly not "the best" at 2798 deaths per million population. Neighbour Norway was one of the lowest in Europe at 1050 deaths per million, and they had a fairly restrictive regime.
English

"According to the Director of Public Health, COVID-19 does not have a particularly high mortality rate and it is not particularly transmissible". This quote is from the Memorandum of Understanding between
the Ministry of Health
and the Office of the Chief Coroner dated 18 March 2020. So why did we go into some of the harshest lockdowns in the world? Link in the comments.

English

@ash_twtz @Bellorris The GPS chip on your phone gets that by measuring the time difference from 3 GPS satellite pings. Its called "triangulation" and doesn't need internet or a cell signal. Your phone receives the GPS pings & calculates your position.

English

@nettieg3 Now do it with excess all cause mortality, instead of highly inaccurate "covid" deaths...

English

@nickofnz What is the claim of 20,000 lives saved based on? It's just an invented slogan from Robertson & Hipkins 🙄
Our excess mortality from 2021 onwards has been the highest in decades...

English

Under Jacinda Arden’s leadership the Labour Government’s Covid response was one of the best in the world in the circumstances, and likely saved over 20,000 lives.
The second Covid inquiry concludes:
"Overall, this report concludes that Aotearoa New Zealand did well in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the whole, the decisions taken and methods used during the Covid-19 response were considered and appropriate."
Was running a SECOND inquiry maybe just a politically driven waste of time and money?
English

@oskaandme If her approach was "one of the world's best" then why did Sweden do so much better than us with no lockdowns and no mandates 🤔 🤷♂️

English

@aniobrien They claim our response was "world leading".
I would like any of them to explain, then, why our results were much worse than Sweden, that naughty country that didn't do lockdowns & mandates... 🤔
Many politicians & news media who went 'all in' would like this forgotten.

English

Cranmer was onto it back in 2023. Apparently this information was too difficult for Hipkins to locate before he mandated teenagers to have two vaccines.
Thomas Cranmer@CranmerWrites
This is the strongly worded advice from the New Zealand government’s group of vaccine experts in relation to the under 18s. It wasn’t implemented.
English

@chrislynchmedia They all keep claiming our response was "world leading" while ignoring the inconvenient fact that Sweden did better than us without doing any of the copycat lockdowns or mandates 🙄

English

Simeon Brown said Hipkins must explain why Auckland remained in lockdown longer than public health advice recommended, while Hipkins said New Zealand had one of the world’s leading pandemic responses.

@richardursomd Was like a cold, but with a slight fever. Pretty mild compared to when I've had influenza, and we don't shut down the world for that... 🙄

@henrycooke @NZParliament More woke decisions from unelected woke Govt employees 🙄
English

Clerk of the House David Wilson tells me it was him who decided to stop @NZParliament posting on Twitter.
He says Grok's abuse imagery and the lack of a serious response from the platform were the reason.

🚨 Parliament just announced it's leaving X - abandoning nearly 1 million New Zealanders on this platform in an election year.
We've written to Speaker Gerry Brownlee. Parliament doesn't belong to Parliamentary Service. It belongs to the public. You don't get to decide 933,000 Kiwis don't matter because you dislike the platform.
When Parliament leaves, the authoritative information disappears. The users don't.

@cjsbishop The fact it's had 75,000 views should tell them it's the wrong decision...
English

Wrong decision in my view. I am sure Business Committee will want to discuss it.

@cjsbishop Just more woke virtue signalling by woke people who want to boycott anything associated with anyone they simply don't like 🙄
hopefully they get made to suck it up...

@BeauFrosty Sadly the low IQ deniers will call the Mount Maunganui event as ordinary stuff. What they fail to understand is that there’s never been any slips on that part of the rock ever.
English

People are dying in New Zealand from world leaders inaction. But it’s ‘rude’ to bring up Climate Change? Piss off.

@AucklandIsland Wrong. People hated her hypocrisy, her lies, her condescension, her censorship, and her curated narrative etc.
People will always like or dislike politicians, but there are plenty of both male & female politicians that have not generated that level of loathing.
English

She's right. The unhinged hate for Ardern was deeply sexist. Conservative types can't handle a woman in charge

@ClintVSmith @graphicshock My god you're tiresome Clint 🙄
So what if it's a business, there is no capital gains tax on businesses either so why should property be different?
Capital gain is not income, it's capital 🙄
You only realise it if you ever sell, and sometimes it's a loss...
