@rforbesak @MattTunseth @JeffLandfield @MNevala9 I generally feel that Jeff and the Landmine represent a major net-positive in the AK media scene - especially with local papers severely understaffed - but I don't think we should be under any illusion that he's an objective source of information.

Alaska Rep. Paul Seaton was a great legislator. Vance, who replaced him, is among the worst of the worst, preoccupied with symbolism and incapable of leadership. #akleg

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R., Alaska): “When I saw General Mattis’ comments yesterday I felt like perhaps we are getting to a point where we can be more honest with the concerns that we might hold internally. And have the courage of our own convictions to speak up.”

@Midnight_Sun_ak it's wild to me the search committee looked over the past several years of turmoil with the University of Alaska and decided "yeah that's the guy for us"

Response from Rep. Carpenter to email about safety protocols in Juneau. The last part... he went full Nazi reference. #akleg

#Rays Snell says he's it's not worth risking his life to play this season for reduced pay, and shares other thoughts during a Twitch session on why MLB's plan to start the season is not a good idea for him tampabay.com/sports/rays/20…

@GordoFSU @TBTimes_Rays Of course health is a factor. He wouldn't be making this argument if there was no pandemic. Also MLB turned a profit of like 10 billion last year. There's enough money to honor the agreed upon contracts.

@North2DFuture @TBTimes_Rays if you think his argument is about health you must be related or are his agent. And actually MLB won't make enough money according to the reports. Zero ticket sales/concessions and reduced TV money.

@GordoFSU @TBTimes_Rays I mean, if my employer could no longer guarantee me a healthy and safe workplace, I wouldn't want a paycut either. Especially since, even in a reduced season, MLB will still make enough revenue to pay the players what they agreed to

Big fan of Alaska's stubborn refusal to diversify its economy, instead doubling down on oil over and over and over again...

Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz is giving his Monday update on the city's response to COVID-19. He'll be joined today by U.S. Sen. Murkowski. So far it's been about building up capacity, flattening the curve and potential to ease hunker down. facebook.com/MayorBerkowitz…

@JeffLandfield You're getting dunked on for appearing to side with economic productivity versus health, but it's really a false dilemma. Economic productivity is in the toilet no matter what. We may as well save lives. What you propose will only boost the mortuary business.

Honestly we should let everyone under 40 go back to work unless they are immunocompromised or living with high risk people. This can’t last for a year, or even 6 months. The government can’t begin to make everyone whole. Imagine the effects this will have on everyone. #COVOD19

In the Senate Education Committee, they're holding a confirmation hearing on UA Student Regent Cachett Garett. Sen. Begich says it was not responsible when she called on senators to reprimand Sen. Wielechowski for tough questions. Asks for a response. #akleg
