Even mild cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection are at risk of becoming long covid, and these results suggest the threat increases with multiple infections. (1/3) www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/75-006-…

New from Canada: Canadian adults testing positive or suspected COVID-19 by June 2023 is 64%, 45% one infection, 14% two, 5% three or more. Likely underestimated 1 in 9 (11.7%) reported long-term symptoms, nearly 1 in 5 (19.0%) of those infected. 1/ www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quoti…

So, yes, many Jews are very sensitive to perceived danger and may tend to see signs of antisemitism even where this isn't the case *because that's what intergenerational trauma does to people*. That's not criticism. It's acknowledgement of the effect of centuries of persecution.

First, the obvious reason that there is and always has been very real antisemitism all around the world, and this is only getting worse. (And when you see this happening, stand against it!)

StatCan just dropped a bombshell report on #LongCovid . By 3+ infections, 38% report long term symptoms — that’s 1 in every 2.6 people. 🤯 Right now 1 in every 9 Canadians have #LongCovid. 80% have symptoms for longer than 6 months; 50% never recovered. www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/75-006-…

It would great if our sleep specialist @RuhiSleep weighted in here. As I mentioned I use a much higher dose (40mg) but I am not using it for sleep. Melatonin and sleep is a widely contentious issues (outside of shift-work situations and time-zone adaptations) and many are dead set against it (such as Huberman). Like any intervention it is best tailored to a particular person and indication and self-experiments can go a long way to determine the right dose for you. That said, the sleep literature in healthy people seems pretty consistent that a lower dose (I often see 300mcg or 350mcg is enough to get a sleep onset benefit). Its a very active of area of research.

If you are using melatonin for sleep onset or sleep quality you want to use what is called a "physiological dose" These are doses that actually correspond to normal health hormone levels (0.1-0.3mg, orally). This is a VERY different indication from using supraphysiological doses for the neuroinflammation. doi.org/10.1016/j.smrv…

We realized early on that the @remissionbiome protocol needed clinicians (GPs, specialists, NDs, and in some jurisdictions pharmacists) to make it work and make it safe. As much as we are #Renegade we need to follow practices of harm reduction and sick people need doctors! 1/n

Even the word ‘symptom’ to describe the experience seems reductive, as when it hits, it swamps and obliterates any other possible function. 2/8

In the early 2000s, it was perfectly valid to believe all of the following: * 9/11 was a heinous act of terrorism * The US needed to act * Al Qaeda had to be eliminated * The George W. Bush administration was absolutely the wrong leadership for it * Civilians should be protected

To idly stand by and observe active genocide and unfettered violence happen in front of our eyes across countless new streams and remain ignorant of the facts surrounding the deep historical tension between Israel and Palestine is inexcusable with the luxuries we are afforded. 3/

I only just now saw this fantastic story Brian Vastag wrote about the WASF3 finding for ME/CFS. It started from the doggedness of one patient. washingtonpost.com/health/2023/09…
