David Ben-Gurion, née Grün had Haganah general Avnir Slikowitz begin preparing a plan "for the military conquest of the whole of Palestine" as early as 1937. The systematic construction of what would come to be called "Plan Dalet" started in 1944.
Jewish terrorists started the war with an attack on the Palestinian village of al‑Abbasiyya in December of 1947. This was followed by a full-scale assault on Balad al‑Shaykh and the massacre and ethnic cleansing of Lifta near Jerusalem.
