Dear parents, you will have seen that the government has awarded teachers a pay rise. Unfortunately, what they haven't told you is this. The government aren't paying for it, your children are.

@adamski1964 @Ariel_Adam @EdRoundtables Teachers had a pay freeze for 8 years. Then years of rises of between 1 and 2%. In total teachers have had a real terms pay cut of 20% since 2010. On average they earn 25% less than other graduates. Why should they accept that? They enable the future, it should be an investment!

@Ariel_Adam @EdRoundtables But it IS a pay rise isn’t it. If you are taking home more money in your pay packet, even if the rise is less than inflation, it is STILL a pay rise. And a far bigger pay rise than the ZERO pay rise, that I and many others have had

Why don't you feel inspired by them, build a union in your workplace, ask for the pay rise you deserve 🤷‍♀️Why say teachers are moaning, they aren't, they're standing up for themselves which is what ASLEF, BA, CWU and Royal Mail are all doing too!

Having fun together, reflecting on the year they've had, looking ahead to what's coming, team building, independent skills, some do cooking, trips, craft, art ... the stuff kids value and need but not what Ofsted want to see!
