Grok’s next major model is getting close. xAI says the new V9-Medium model with 1.5T parameters has officially finished training and early evals are looking strong. The current production version of Grok runs on the much smaller 0.5T v8-small model so this is a massive jump in scale. xAI also confirmed that a large amount of Cursor coding data was added during supplementary training with even more still coming. Fine-tuning is already underway and reinforcement learning starts within days. Public release is expected in around 2 to 3 weeks with major improvements expected especially for difficult coding tasks.
