The Empire Strikes Back is on, and I realized the AT-AT commander on Hoth is the Guy Who Chose Poorly in The Last Crusade. Then my wife tells me that's the same guy who played Grand Maester Pycelle in Game of Thrones. 🤯

The Florida frontcourt was already the best in the entire country last season - national DPOY, #1 rebounding team in the nation. And they might be even better in 2026/27. Returning their trio (likely) + added depth, craft & versatility from around the world. Insane group🐊🐊🐊

Calling him just an elite shooter is almost disrespectful. Petrovic is almost a big guard. Initiating offense early and often in Slovenia's top league. Pair his great feel with elite and confident shooting, easy plug and play starter or high bench piece depending on how he looks defending the ball.

I am as grateful as I have ever been for the opportunity to serve as a Graduate Assistant these past 2 seasons with the Florida Gators Men's Basketball program. From the learning experiences and the wildly rewarding challenges to the friends and memories made, I will forever be appreciative of the chance to be a part of this historic time in this special place. Special thank you to all of the players, coaches, GAs and managers who poured into me during this time and taught me what a championship-caliber workspace looks like. GO GATORS! After two incredible seasons in Gainesville, I am actively searching for new opportunities in basketball for next season. My experience at Florida has prepared me well to take on a role as a Video Coordinator, DOBO, or other coaching position at the collegiate or professional level. I would love to connect with anybody in search of an analytical and results-driven staffer for their program!

Some background: As I noted in the article, the extension wad signed around the time the Magic reached the NBA Cup semifinals. The team was 14-9 when it won its quarterfinal game, and Franz Wagner had not yet suffered his high-ankle sprain. The ship was not sinking then. It seemed like the team had a chance to elevate. As for the extension itself, the team never disclosed it. Sometimes it takes time to uncover things.

“Two league sources said Weltman signed a contract extension during the first half of the season, around the time the team reached the NBA Cup semifinals. Where should the blame fall? On injuries? On the construction of the roster? On the coaching?”
Josh Robbins@JoshuaBRobbins

Any offseason changes in the offing with the Orlando Magic will not include president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman. Two league sources told @TheAthleticNBA that Weltman signed a contract extension during the regular season. Story free to read: nytimes.com/athletic/72510…

Azzi Fudd had her teammates laughing when she was asked about how she’s adjusting to the physicality in the WNBA: “Honestly I’m more confused. I thought you could be physical in the W and anytime you touch someone, it’s a foul.” Jessica Shepherd and Aziaha James joked that she was still learning about fines 🤣

It’s wild how literally everything the Magic should be doing consistently just fell apart without Franz given that they’ve pretty much had a full season without him to prepare for it

@SpursReporter For the record, I’m not sure if it’s quite accurate to say the Sixers signed Mac McClung to a 2-way just for the 2023 dunk contest. McClung was signed to their G-League Delaware Blue Coats in early November 2022 and played 49 games w/them leading them to a G-League title.
SpursRΞPORTΞR@SpursReporter

Yes, it is true. Back in 2023, the 76ers waived Julian Champagnie specifically to sign Mac McClung to a two-way contract so McClung could officially represent the Sixers in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Champagnie was claimed off waivers by the Spurs two days later (February 16, 2023). The Sixers essentially traded a young wing who has become a solid NBA rotation player for a one-weekend dunk contest appearance.

I think the Magic win this series if Franz doesn’t get hurt. But just like we saw for most of the season, it’s still a pretty flawed team for a lot of reasons. They give us some of the most insane runs you’ll ever see. Nothing ever feels safe. Everything always feels hard.

The Magic traded Tobias Harris for Brandon Jennings and Ersan İlyasova because Scott Skiles wanted to make the playoffs in response to ownership pressure and wanted to add veterans. They didn't make the playoffs then Skiles quit. Jennings put up 7 ppg for the Magic.
