No longer are they on their front foot looking for something to poke the other way, the way they teach these hitters is to utilize all three of your strikes and hit something hard, no more turtling with 2 strikes.

@kenrank24 @shegone03 @MLB It’s more a focus on XBHs than HRs because trying to string together 3 singles just isn’t a good strategy in the era of pitching we’re in. It used to be a big deal that Billy Wagner threw 97, now the whole pen hits 97. When sliders are faster now than fastballs then, BAs go down

@NotSauer @shegone03 @MLB But it's a HR or nothing mentality now. When I was young, guys hit dingers but the BA were so much higher. The game is decided by who scores the most runs but the small ball game that creates runs (which is more fun to watch, a dinger is just a dinger after a while) is baseball

@PleaseChoseMe @JackMac @DustinGouker It is. I have a BIL who bowls 220 average and he has gotten a 299 and many 280-290 games. Never a 300. Throw in someone like me who averages 150 and we would never do a perfect game together. Maybe if they went for like a month or year. Bowling is tough.

There are a lot of talented relievers in MLB, and many of them were free agents. At some point you have to pay people to play. Regardless of what the CBT is, if Crane wants to win he should have opened his wallet. Choose elite relievers to help, not just minors leaguers

The other situation brought up is “what if the pitcher’s spot is due up, and they’re down 1, but he’s pitching a 3-hitter” they PH EVERYTIME still

Pitchers are better today 😉 I hear this everyday now, maybe average velocity ok. But they are just throwers now, bring back the pitchers that can actually pitch 7 plus innings, have control and not afraid to pitch inside. Don’t care how hard you throw ball 4.
