Since I would be using Prajñākaramati's commentary for most of my readings, I thought a brief introduction to one of the last of the great Indian Madhyamikas whose texts survived would be necessary.
Borrowed from AI:
Prajñākaramati was a 10th century Indian Mahāyāna Buddhist scholar and commentator of the Mādhyamaka tradition, associated with the monasteries of Nālandā and Vikramaśīla. Celebrated as a disciple in Candrakīrti’s lineage, he is best known for his Bodhicaryāvatārapañjikā, the principal Indian commentary on Śāntideva’s Bodhicaryāvatāra, one of the most influential texts in Mahāyāna ethics and practice.
Prajñākaramati flourished during the Pāla dynasty’s height, when Vikramaśīla and Nālandā were leading centers of Buddhist learning.
His commentary on Bodhicaryāvatāra remains the only Sanskrit pañjikā on Śāntideva’s text to survive. It clarifies grammar, doctrine, and logic while integrating Mādhyamaka analysis with citations from Śikṣāsamuccaya and Prajñāpāramitā literature. Modern scholarship regards it as essential for understanding the Indian exegetical tradition and the interpretation of bodhicitta, patience (kṣānti), and meditation (dhyāna) in Mahāyāna practice.
My thoughts:
The philosophical lineage could be understood somewhat like this:
Nāgārjuna → Āryadeva → Candrakīrti → Śāntideva→ Prajñākaramati

Day 21 of asking PM @narendramodi to cut the freebies budget and increase the R&D budget
We are now entering the 20s. More than twenty days have passed and there has been no response yet. But this movement will not stop. Because national priorities do not change overnight. They change when citizens refuse to give up.
This is still not a debate between welfare and development. It is a question of responsibility. India does not need to reduce support for the poor. India needs to reduce waste, leakage and politically driven giveaways that do not create long term value.
R&D is what builds nations. It creates industries that last for generations. It creates skilled jobs instead of permanent dependency. It strengthens defence capability and national security. It keeps talent inside the country and slows brain drain. It turns taxpayers’ money into long term national strength.
Uncontrolled freebies do the opposite. They keep state finances under constant pressure. They promote consumption without productivity. They encourage political dependence instead of self reliance. They reduce funds available for hospitals, laboratories and universities. They bring short term popularity but cause long term economic damage.
The numbers speak clearly. India spends around 3.2% of GDP on freebies while only about 0.64% goes into R&D. No serious nation grows with this imbalance. The world’s leading economies invested heavily in research first and welfare became sustainable only after growth.
Every rupee lost to leakage is a rupee taken away from science, education and healthcare. Every lab not built today becomes a missed opportunity tomorrow. Every researcher ignored today becomes part of the brain drain tomorrow.
I urge citizens to spread awareness about the hidden costs of excessive freebies and the long term value of research and innovation. This conversation must reach every household and every representative.
I urge all MPs and MLAs to raise this issue inside Parliament and state assemblies with honesty and courage. This is beyond party lines. This is about India’s future.
Sir @narendramodi, the youth is asking for tools, knowledge and opportunity. Please cut waste, fix leakages and redirect that money into research, innovation and skill creation.
Reduce waste.
Increase innovation.
This is how nations move forward.
A country that invests in merit builds its future.
A country that invests in waste keeps delaying it.

Didi, you're right. Some people are allowed to sit in temples to ask for donations based on their caste, while others are turned away based on their caste,
Casteism must be eradicated from the country.👍

Poverty has no caste. Corruption has no caste. Talent has no caste. Hard work has no caste. Only your caste certificate has caste.
