Humans who join the Tau Empire enjoy the following perks: - Life in a concentration camp. - Continuous active psychological torture. (reeducation as they Tau call it) - Active or passive sterilization. - The only possible future for you is being sent to the front lines as a bullet sponge for Fire Warriors, who are considered more valuable. - The only other possible future is being designated to reproduce only to make more humans to absorb bullets for the Fire Warriors. - Zero ability to advance anywhere in society at most, you may lead other humans in a squad but you'll always be beneath the Tau themselves. - Zero allowance of anything which may exist outside your designated societal role. What Tau fans don't understand is that the Tau Empire's best options for humans living there can only match the worst outcomes of the Imperium. In the Imperium, humans can actually advance through society. They can attain station, success, and recognition. Even humans living in the worst conditions in the Imperium can elevate themselves through effort. You could go from pauper to Rogue Trader. Street rat to Guard General. Wastelander to Astartes. There's possibility, even if fraught with risk, but all pushes to advance as a person are fraught with risk. Hell, it doesn't even have to be that grandiose a rise. Sometimes it's something as simple as being a shop owner on a Hive World. What I'm saying is there's diversity of potential and outcome for humans in the Imperium. We hear about the most dangerous, violent outcomes because that's what sells Warhammer. No one cares about Joe Hiveworlder who grew up poor, opened a shop, and became a local success story before marrying and having children who also grew up successful. Meanwhile in the Tau Empire your only option is a 10x10 cubicle hab they keep you in until they send you to go die to protect their rank and file soldiers who hate you because you're not a blue alien goat like they are after they cut your balls off for not thinking about the Greater Good hard enough. The Tau Empire is great if you're a Tau. It's a death sentence if you're a human. Either a quick one, or a slow one.
