@maryamato88 Your illustrations make my days better (and my work more beautiful).

@attilavaszka I feel exactly the same and yet my website is peppered with 'Book a call' - I should have thought about what it's like to be a user. Thanks for opening my eyes. I'm excited to try this strategy and see if it creates more conversions...
English

"Book a call" CTA scares away your clients.
I see designers with "Schedule a Call" as their main CTA.
And every time, my brain instantly translates that to:
• 30 minutes of awkward small talk
• Explaining things I already wrote on my website
• Listening to "We’re still in the early stages…"
Here’s the reality: Most clients don’t want a call.
Especially introverts. Especially startups that are just “exploring options.”
Instead, make it easy for them to take the next step.
- A quick form
- A DM
- An async video response
If a call is necessary, let them get invested first—because “jumping on a call” with a stranger is work, and most people will avoid it.

This realization led me to 4 salary increases in 3 years at a previous agency job:
No one wants to hire a Jack-of-All-Trades - until they understand they need one.
Clients want to hire a "UI Designer."
Then they see you can also animate, write microcopy, and tweak the CSS, and suddenly, you’re "irreplaceable."
The trick?
Lead with your specialty.Get in the door as "the expert," then let them discover your hidden talents.
Because nobody wants to pay extra for a Swiss Army knife upfront, but they’ll fight to keep one once they have it.
Attract with what you're great at. Keep with what else you can do.
That's what helped me getting x2 money in 3 years.

@adhiraj_OTW Sometimes personalities or project management ethos doesn’t aline. We can’t be the perfect fit for everyone. If you’re reasonable and honest, you’ve done the best by everyone.
English

@martyfyi Me too - it’s been nice to be away for a while! Glad you’re feeling rejuvenated!

@attilavaszka It’s like asking a friend if they’re free tomorrow without telling them what you have planned. Great advice, thank you.

"What's your budget?" and when you should ask it.
Asking a client about their budget upfront is like walking into a restaurant and saying, "How much do you want to spend on dinner?"
It’s awkward. It makes them hesitate. And it puts you in a weaker position.
Instead, frame it differently.
Rather than a direct "What’s your budget?", ask if they’ve allocated a budget for this—like a marketing or annual budget.
This keeps the conversation open without putting pressure on them.
Still, the best time to discuss numbers?
When you have an actual deal to offer:
• A package
• A discount
• An option that increases their value
Otherwise, you risk turning the conversation into a negotiation battle.

@AdhamDannaway This would be great as a ‘business card’ or coming soon website option too.

The simplest way to build your personal website in 2025 👇
1️⃣ Upload your photo
2️⃣ Write your story
3️⃣ Add some links
I love the minimalist approach. Just words and a photo on a page to tell your story. It reminds me of how the web used to be.
Customising colours and typography lets you add personality while keeping a clean, minimal vibe.
Create yours - It's fun and free 🥳

5 Notion Mistakes That Are Slowing You Down 🚀
1️⃣ Overcomplicating your setup
2️⃣ Too many pages, not enough structure
3️⃣ Cluttered dashboards with no clear focus
4️⃣ Ignoring templates that save time
5️⃣ Letting it become a digital junk drawer
Fix these, and Notion will work for you, not against you.
Which one are you guilty of? 👀👇

@mrblackstudio @figma It looks so good! Such a lovely image to show off your design.
English

@NotionDesign_NZ @figma Thanks Kate — my favourite part of this experiment was the trim scene tape. This has to be done in real ☺️

@cambboyle I don't think you're cheating if you use a template, you're just outsourcing some of your workload. You're already producing amazing work, no need to make your life harder than it already is. That's just my 10 cents.
English

@NotionDesign_NZ I'd like to, but only because I feel its cheating if a Software Engineer doesn't make their own portfolio.
But I am looking at them for inspo more and more
English

@cambboyle It might be easier for you to find a template that works for your portfolio and simply swap out the images and text (and colours and typefaces) to suit you rather than going into the structural build of the whole site. Unless you want to that is 😅
English

@NotionDesign_NZ Not at the moment, I'm still struggling with stacks and frames. I wouldn't know my way around a template
English

@iamharaldur Love it with the pink sofa and the throw - that is a nice palette of colours and a great storage space to boot.
English

@NotionMolly It’s amazing how your body tends to hold on until you relax. Sorry you’re poorly, hope you’re feeling much better soon 👍
