@crickhitchens @bread_ sir,can you explain the number of L2 chains choosing Ethereum L1 as their DA layer has reached 50+.In contrast, the number of L2 chains choosing celestia as their DA layer is only 9once seen as the future of modular blockchains, is about to completely exit the historical stage?

@bread_ Ser, you left off an L2 built with Sovereign and Celestia underneath that can do 200k tps 🤷🏻♂️

Ethereum finally scaling is making some of you soft.
"ETH swaps are so cheap now why do we even need other chains anymore?"
Let me be clear:
Ethereum, Base and even Solana are nowhere near where we need to be to achieve global-scale crypto usecases.
As proof, look a single viral app from 2018: HQ Trivia
At it's peak, it supported ~2.38M concurrent users for a single game of trivia. This required 11 rounds of questions to be answered with a payout of $250k to winners.
Wouldn't it be awesome if that experience was:
1. Trustless
2. Verifiable
3. Instant
To do that, you'd need to have a public blockchain capable of handling burst transactions upwards of 238k TPS.
238k! For a single app!
To put that into perspective, to process that amount of transactions on Ethereum, Base and Solana today you'd have to wait for 3hr (Ethereum), 20min (Base) or 3min (Solana) for a single round to resolve.
The problem is each round lasts ~10s, so you'd have cascading tx buildup that would require hours to fully settle if you didn't want every user to pay absurd priority fees just to answer a trivia questions, and this is again ignoring 100% of all other activity these chains would facilitate.
To put it into picture form, here is me stacking the TPS of these chains with the burst-requirement of that viral HQ Trivia game, then generously doubling each of them to show how far away we are. Then you take into consideration:
1. How long it takes these systems to actually double in capacity through sheer development iteration (years)
2. The amount of capacity used by other high-activity chains (see: Hyperps eating up ~10k TPS by itself)
...and you see we are so, so far away from any sort of meaningful end state for crypto systems.
Everyone says we have too much blockspace but I am here to tell you we are sorely lacking blockspace, to the degree it's hard to even articulate.
At least, that's true if you believe in what we're building here.

With this, I want to ask @bread_: What's the use of new L2s like megaETH and how are they going to generate revenue? Also, with the Fusaka update, why not have more L1s move to Ethereum? I would like a better idea instead of talks on finality. Thanks SFI
