@TheNorfolkLion @Janine511484078 We should be concerned about hanging onto good teachers than hounding them for what they think. There are few enough of them these days.

PE Teacher Banned for Life – Just for Saying Migrants Should Respect Our Laws or Leave
A PE teacher in Darlington has been banned from ever teaching again – not for anything he did in the classroom, but for a few posts he made on his personal X account.
Sam Everett wrote things a lot of people quietly think:
"If you don’t respect our laws, culture and way of life you should leave, nobody is forcing you to stay."
And in another reply: "They can live in societies where their values are accepted, it isn’t here. Leave. You won’t be missed."
Someone reported him, the posts were dug up, and the whole thing went to a misconduct panel. The panel actually cleared him of racism or sexism. They said he showed genuine remorse, had a spotless record before this, deleted the posts, and posed no risk of doing it again. Their recommendation? Let him keep teaching.
Then the Department for Education stepped in and overruled them. Banned him indefinitely.
Their reasoning: the comments were "offensive", suggested intolerance, and one mention of using the navy to stop Channel crossings was enough to "undermine public confidence in the teaching profession".
So here we are in 2026: a teacher with no complaints in his entire career loses everything because he expressed a view – on his own time, on his own account – that millions of ordinary people share. Even the people who investigated him thought it was okay for him to carry on.
This isn't really about racism or misconduct anymore. It's about whether you're allowed to have an opinion that doesn't match the official line on immigration. Step outside that line and the system will make an example of you, no matter how clean your record is.
What kind of message does that send to every other teacher?
Keep quiet, or else.

@ellymelly I still carry a notebook (my children used to refer to it as my busy book) and pen and I list everything - shopping, me us, meal plans etc. I also love sending hand written cards and letters.

@alison_pannell @benonwine And that would have been an excellent idea, but they stopped building. However, in many ways, she was a good prime minister, not least because she was intelligent, focused, hard-working and put the UK first always.
English

@Notts1674 @benonwine I do believe that the idea was to sell off property to people who lived in them as they had no other way of vacating them. The money from the sales were supposed to be used for new properties to be built. That would mean people needing one could get one.
English

@Ruby__8090 They are actually all stunning to be honest.
English

@alison_pannell @benonwine I can't forgive her for selling off all the council properties- I know it gave ordinary people the opportunity to buy a home but it would have been better to pay people higher wages so those who worked could buy one, and there would be enough council homes for those who need one
English

@benonwine I was only 2 when Winston Churchill was last Prime Minister, but I have a lot of respect for him. However, in my lifetime, and at an age that I understood anything about politics - it must be Maggie Thatcher
English

@oliviabaileymp It is particularly concerning that you are the minister for early education and equalities and yet you think this is appropriate.

@benonwine A lifelong love and appreciation of the arts begins at a young age. I remember sitting cross legged on the hall floor in infants school listening to classical music every morning, and queuing for tickets to stand on the balcony to see opera with my nan at age 7. Happy days

Head of British schools Sir Mufti Hamid Patel said restrictions in British schools on art, dancing, music, religious education was necessary not to offend Muslim students or their families.
If schools start restricting art, music, dance or parts of the curriculum to avoid offending people, we have to ask a serious question.
Where does it stop?
Education should expand children’s horizons not narrow them.
Do you agree?

@OzKaterji @SCynic1 I feel such second hand embarrassment every time I hear her speak - she is as thick as mince.

I simply don’t know why anyone would bother to invite this moron onto a national broadcast. She never has a clue what she is talking about and simply revels in her own ignorance.

Keir Starmer is gaslighting the country. The UK has followed the US into an illegal war against Iran.

@francesbarber13 My mum saved up a few shillings a week and bought a full set of bone china with everything imaginable in it.- it took years to collect it and then she kept it 'for best' 😭 it hardly got used. She's 93 now and recently moved into a home and I have no idea what to do with it

@DavidMKeyes @MickeyD44314901 The fact that the lefty Iran supporters can't see the double standards and sheer hypocrisy of corrupt leaders enjoying the trappings of the west, whilst horrifically oppressing their own people, is astounding.
