I am so very sorry Lopey. You were the kindest, gentlest soul.
Boone absolutely adored you, so did I.
I am praying for your sweet little baby daughter and your beautiful wife. Also for your wonderful mama and family.
I will never forget hugging you in our kitchen the last time we saw you. I know Boone was there to greet you. Love you so much sweetheart. You will never be forgotten.

My dad on Mt. Kennedy. The Canadian government named the highest unclimbed peak in North America after my uncle following his assassination. My father became part of the first team to summit the 13,944-foot mountain in March 1965. #GetOutside #LiveRealLife

Another learning curve: my gastrostomy tube set off the body scanner at Heathrow Airport.
The staff didn't seem entirely sure what to do next. They wanted to examine me and 'swab me' in full view of everyone, so I asked for a bit of privacy and was taken to a separate room.
They swabbed the tube going into my stomach and then asked, "What about the one at the back?"
The one at the back?
They genuinely thought the tube came out of my back.
I would have thought that people travelling with feeding tubes were common enough for airport security staff to recognise them, but that didn't seem to be the case. The swab was obviously negative and I was free to go!
What struck me most was the contrast with the Italian authorities on the return journey. They treated me with dignity, explained exactly what they were doing, understood the equipment, and carried out the checks professionally and respectfully.
Travelling with a feeding tube presents enough challenges without having to explain basic anatomy to airport security staff. Some think your stomach is connected to your back.
