ETHIOPIA ― 🔥A small protest took place in Addis Ababa today after a young man was reportedly killed by police in the Shiro Meda area. What began as a reaction to the incident later grew into broader anti-government demonstrations, with protesters voicing frustration over worsening political and economic conditions in the country. With the general election approaching, social media is already filled with Ethiopians venting despair over what many describe as a nation pushed to its breaking point. Today’s unrest may fade quickly, but one thing is increasingly difficult to deny: the patience of the Ethiopian people against the incompetent administration of Abiy Ahmed is wearing dangerously thin. #Ethiopia

For Eritreans, freedom and dignity are not slogans; they are lived values shaped by history and sacrifice. Religion remains a private matter, but the nation is a collective responsibility. Eritrea belongs to all its people, regardless of faith, region, or background.

Excellent Read - #Eritrea’s Religious Harmony: A Millennium of Coexistence by Dr. Tsegai Medin *"...Eritrea’s religious landscape is defined by a deep-seated tradition of coexistence that predates many modern concepts of secularism or tolerance. For over a millennium, the country has served as a sanctuary where different faiths do not merely ‘tolerate’ one another but exist in organic harmony. The country is home to some of the most significant early religious landmarks in the Horn of Africa. This unique identity is anchored in a history that saw the birth of major world religions and their peaceful arrival on the Red Sea coast". *"...In a modern world often divided by religious sectarianism and conflict, Eritrea stands as a unique example of tolerance. It is common to see mosques and churches - built side by side in the same villages - and religious holidays are frequently celebrated by Christians and Muslims together". *"...Since the 7th century, this land has served as a sanctuary for diverse congregations. Today, this tradition of harmony is more than just a social norm - it is a defining characteristic of the Eritrean national identity".

Welcomed H.E. Mr. Rui Vinhas, PR of #Portugal, to the Permanent Mission of Eritrea @Eritrea_UN . It is always a pleasure to reconnect with my distinguished colleague and exchange perspectives on issues of mutual interest on the UN agenda. Our discussion also touched on the outcomes of the International Migration Review Forum, which is now drawing to a close, and the urgent need to address the challenges of migrants and refugees through a holistic, balanced, and cooperative approach. In a world increasingly marked by conflict, instability, economic uncertainty, climate-related pressures, and geopolitical tensions, migration cannot be viewed in isolation from the broader global context. Durable solutions require addressing root causes, promoting equitable development, strengthening international cooperation, and ensuring that the dignity and rights of migrants and refugees are upheld. At the same time, it is equally important to recognize the legitimate concerns and responsibilities of States in managing migration in accordance with international law. We emphasized that respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, and non-interference in the internal affairs of nations remain essential foundations for international peace, stability, and cooperation. In navigating today’s multiple crises, the international community must work collectively to uphold these principles while fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and solidarity among nations. We will work closely to enhance #Eritrea-#Portugal bilateral ties...

1-@TiborPNagyJr your obsession with Eritrea says more about the failure of Washington’s old Horn of Africa policy than it says about Eritrea. For years, regime change advocates have framed Eritrea as a problem to be isolated rather than a sovereign country to be engaged.

If Trump Admin removes Eritrea sanctions I predict US will be disappointed. Isaias isn't going to allow any opening since that would bring his prison-country under the microscope. He is happy being an absolute dictator despite the suffering of his people. reuters.com/world/africa/u…

It is overdue 4Z international community to impose real consequences on any state enabling atrocities in Sudan, including through arms transfers, logistics. The UAE’s alleged support 4Z RSF must face independent investigation, sanctions, and diplomatic pressure.

Sudan’s government and military have formally accused the UAE and Ethiopia of orchestrating a series of drone strikes on Khartoum’s international airport and military bases. Critical updates: *- Officials claim to have "conclusive evidence" including flight data from drones launched via Ethiopia's Bahir Dar airport. *- Sudan has recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia for consultations. *- The military asserts its right to respond at a time and place of its choosing. sudantribune.com/article/313527 #Sudan #Khartoum #Ethiopia #UAE #SudanNews

#My2Cents - I’m not sure why so many pundits are panicking over reports that the United States may lift its "unilateral" sanctions on Eritrea anytime soon. As the Eritrean government has long argued, these sanctions lacked both legal grounding and strategic justification. Eritrea has never threatened U.S. interests in the Red Sea or the region at large. The reality is that these sanctions were largely imposed to satisfy Ethiopia, Washington’s preferred client state in the Horn of Africa at the time. Their removal should have happened years ago. Eritrea’s position on Red Sea security has been clear and consistent from day one: the stability and protection of the Red Sea should primarily be the responsibility of the littoral states themselves, not external actors seeking geopolitical influence. That includes Iran and its proxies, particularly the Houthis. Eritrea rejects any attempt by non-littoral powers to dominate or militarize this vital maritime corridor. This is not just Eritrea’s position, it is also a core principle of the so-called the "Red Sea Council," which is made up of eight Red Sea and Gulf of Aden nations working together to safeguard one of the world’s most strategic waterways. What we are seeing today is simply a convergence of interests. Eritrea’s longstanding policy happens to align with Trump’s Red Sea policy, especially regarding the containment of destabilizing actors. Eritrea is willing to cooperate with any country, whether the U.S., Egypt, Saudi Arabia, China, Russia, etc., if that cooperation contributes to the safety and stability of the Red Sea. And let’s be clear: Iran has no rightful sphere of influence over the Red Sea. None! If Tehran’s ambitions threaten regional security, Eritrea will stand firmly against them, alongside whoever is willing to preserve the security of this crucial waterway. The Red Sea does not belong to Iran, and never will. @StateDRL @US_SrAdvisorAF @hawelti @ChinaEmbEritrea @rusemberitrea @EUSR_Weber
