Panthers hooker Mitch Kenny has been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee following Saturday night’s Round 4 clash against the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium. Kenny received a grade two charge for dangerous contact on Eels fullback Isaiah Iongi in the second half of the match. Matt Doorey will go for scans on a suspected ACL injury in his left knee - almost an identical mechanism (swung around in a tackle + foot planted) that saw him tear the ACL in his right knee in 2021. Medical staff hands on testing very accurate here - unfortunately MRI usually just confirms what they already suspect. Doorey would be facing surgery & 9 months recovery if ACL injury confirmed.

Daniel Atkinson & Kyle Flanagan will both go for scans on ankle injuries they suffered in Round 2. Video brings concern for high ankle sprains with similar contact mechanisms causing foot to turn out. Good signs they were both able to finish the game (both incidents happened late in the 1st half) so hopefully minor issues. But there have been players finish out games with moderate to high grade syndesmosis injuries in the past so ones to watch.

IMO the worst timeslot is 6pm Friday night. It’s usually reserved for the Warriors or dud matches. It beggars belief that arguably the match of the round is Friday 6pm. Once again the NRL cater for the Broncos. I’m over them playing every week on Thursdays/Friday nights at 8pm. The Roosters v Penrith could have drawn in excess of 25,000. It obviously won’t now. I detest 6pm, as I don’t get home from work until then. And in QLD it’s at 5pm ! Just ridiculous
