I did my undergrad at Oberlin College, the wokest of the woke, and during my senior year the main upper-level political theory seminar was on conservatism, with readings from Burke, Hayek, Oakeshott, de Maistre, Strauss, Scruton, and more.

@kareem_carr This hasn't been a significant goal for sociologists since the functionalism of the early to mid-20th century. Much better off seeking to understand society so we can change it for the better.

I’m always surprised by tech’s hostility to subjects like sociology since many of their big ideas require social technology far beyond what's possible today. As an example, we basically have no idea how to engineer a sociologically stable mars colony from first principles.
