The awful murders at an Islamic centre in San Diego is shocking but not surprising. Hatred towards Muslims has been normalised and often goes unchallenged. We can then hardly be surprised when hateful rhetoric turns deadly. We need our allies to speak up & stand alongside us.

I have no problem with Islam. I’m just against beheading, stoning, marrying little girls, sexual slavery, taqiyya, slave trading, rape, forced conversions, jihad, burqa, attacking other religions, child abuse, women abuse, animal abuse, multiple wives, murder, Sharia, terrorism, brainwashing, intolerance, greed, anti-science, torture, illiteracy, gluttony, genital mutilation, inbreeding. I am horrified by the deadly attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego, an apparent act of anti-Muslim violence. Islamophobia endangers Muslim communities across this country. We must confront it directly and stand together against the politics of fear and division. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire community grieving this devastating attack. The NYPD is increasing deployments to mosques across the city out of an abundance of caution. There are currently no known threats to NYC houses of worship.

I condemn the deadly attack on a mosque in San Diego. My thoughts are with those affected. I know many Muslims in the UK will be shaken by this, worried about their safety when going about their lives and attending mosque, and what it says about the times we’re living in. I understand those fears. Violence like this does not happen in a vacuum. It grows in an environment where division and anti-Muslim hostility are normalised. That is intolerable. We must all come together against it.
