Starlink has had a marketing push. They’re running radio ads and buying billboards.

@cham_kyle and those are on the main heat shield, not the 4 patches on the leeward side of the ship’s hull

So that's why they put heat shields in front

Starship’s Pacific hard landing isn’t a crash. It’s engineered breakup. Horizontal impact at terminal velocity flexes the hull, shearing the CH4 transfer tube inside the LOX tank. Propellants mix, detonate, and fracture the structure into sinkable fragments. Deliberate energy neutralization. This is first-principles safety: design the worst-case to be predictable, cheap, and non-hazardous. It lets us test aggressively, fail fast, and close the loop on full reusability for Mars.
