Serious question. How is Orion staying alive in a long term lunar stay I get the point of Gateway now. It was to keep Orion alive. Orion can do 6 months (and up to 1000 accord to Lockheed) only when docked, though. Besides that, assume only the 21 days it was made for.

Great question, I really enjoy answering these kinds of questions ... so , both Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin lifted off from the lunar surface in a small spacecraft called the Lunar Module, using its ascent engine to rendezvous (meet up) with Michael Collins(remember the astronaut who remained in orbit) in the Command Module. and here’s where it gets interesting: you see the Lunar Module had two parts; the descent stage, which remained on the Moon and the Ascent stage, the top half that blasted off from the lunar surface. so basically, when they wanted to depart from the lunar surface, they simply launched off the descent stage, leaving it behind on the Moon. In addition, as a clarification, the ascent stage that left the Moon had its own engine, and since the Moon has no atmosphere (meaning zero air resistance), it ignited and just shot upwards into lunar orbit, where Michael Collins continued circling the Moon. To meet Collins, our two astronauts had to enter lunar orbit at just the right altitude, match the speed and trajectory of the Command Module (a technique known as orbital rendezvous) and then use thrusters to slowly approach and carefully dock, thereafter, the ascent stage was jettisoned and left in lunar orbit. (attached is a clip on Apollo 17 leaving the lunar surface in December 1972)

Someone needs to take the NASA Image and Video Library away from me it's too addicting to scroll. You go to one page and think you found the hardest photo ever, but no, you go to the next page and it somehow gets topped every time.

Starship FCC licenses for Flight 12 and 13 have been modified. Starship Flight 12’s license includes a suborbital first and second stage. Starship Flight 13’s now says suborbital first stage and ORBITAL second stage. Links: apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/els/repo… apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/els/repo…

@MustacheBob2 I hate elon dickriders so much holy shit. Space exploration should be kept pure and stay driven by curiosity and science and not by the ego and profit margin of a fucking 55 year old man child.
