Let’s see what happens today. So. I was walking through Walmart the other day and was stopped by those internet spam guys. ‘Hey who do you have for internet!?’ I usually say, ‘I already go through you guys,’ just to shut them up. But. This time it was different. The wife and I have been contemplating switching providers because our current Kinetic Fiber is ASS. So, I sign up with the Walmart guys who represent Spectrum. $20 down. $60 per month. No contracts. The sales guy tells me the equipment will arrive tomorrow morning and it’s simple to hook up. He tells me if I need a technician for anything he will send one right over and he even gives me his personal cell number. Cool. Great. Next day, equipment arrives as promised. Awesome. I hook it up and NOTHING. Tried everything. All their stupid triage checklists, etc. So I text the guy and let him know nothing is working. He tells me to call this 1-800 number. I told him fuck no. He said with his own words that he would send a tech to me, not that I’d have to play phone tag. If that was the case I wouldn’t have signed up with them. He says fair enough and proceeds to get a tech to me. But he can’t. So he calls me to get my 4 digit PIN code so he can call Spectrum and pretend to be me so he can get a technician to my house. And I told him he could. Gave him 100% permission. I’m far too busy for this shit. This was great customer service on my end. So. A tech is scheduled for the next day from 4pm to 5pm. Good. Great. I clear my schedule and accommodate my 5 children. A Technician shows up some time after 6pm. (Totally not his fault. I know they are spread thin) I kindly tell him it’s over. The window has passed. I’m now doing other shit. I reschedule. No problem. They tell me a new technician will arrive between 2pm and 3pm the next day. I clear my schedule. Accommodate my kids. Again. 3:45pm arrives and still no technician. I (again) call customer service, fight through their automated system and their attempt to put me on a call with their ‘virtual AI assistant,’ and finally reach a LaTisha. She was super helpful. Again, it’s not her fault. She calls the technician and after a lengthy hold advises me that the technician won’t make it to me until 5pm. I say, again, it’s over. That window has passed and now I’m busy doing other shit. My time is very important to me AND I live by the Vince Lombardi rule. If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late. And if you’re late, fuck off. So. They have rescheduled (again) a technician to arrive at my house at 12:00pm today. (Between 12-1) That’s 20 minutes away as I’m typing this. I have again cleared my schedule and accommodated my 5 daughters. Do you think I’ll see a technician today or does this company just fucking suck?
