Where does Doug fit into this? I have nothing against Doug, and I don’t think he has any personal issue with me. As far as I’m concerned, his race has no place in national discussions. We can disagree on issues or national causes, but his race shouldn’t be used as a tool to silence him. Plain and simple.

Clearly Douglas Coltart & @advocatemahere are still stuck in their “human rights” politics… The USAID politics moves NOTHING, it’s archaic & of zero consequence in 2026… Attending a Public Hearing to harvest some footage for “the world” only worked during the time when CNN propaganda had traction…. Nowadays the VAST MAJORITY of Zimbabweans are nonchalant about political drama queens… Zimbabweans are interested in politicians who understand wealth creation & economic development, not those selling anger & useless abstractions.

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗔 𝗟𝗔𝗪 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗬 𝗟𝗔𝗪? Why are you even trying to make a law to EXTEND something that is not LIMITED by law? Why require a law to extend a term from five years to seven years, if five years was not a term limit at law? If five years is not a limit, then you shouldn’t be needing a law to extend what is not limited. Just simply automatically continue for an extra two years without requiring a law to make it happen. The fact that you are making a law to extend the five years to seven, means there was a limit (in law and the constitution to be exact) that you are now trying to break with a new law to extend it. That new law and desired extension of an existing limited term emanating from the constitution, axiomatically requires the formality of a referendum.
Gono Chirandu@TafadzwaMarinda

@matinyarare Section 91 (2) is the only explicit term limit provision and section 95 (2)(b) is a term length and in amending section 95 (2)((b) you dont need a referendum

Mutisi, this letter by the ZRP saying that they didn’t assault Madhuku illustrates the landmine that is the constitutional amendments. The letter is a PR botch-up that does not manage the crisis; rather, it taints the image of the government, the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3, the party, and by deduction the President in a worse manner than that done by Bless Mhlanga. So why did the ZRP spend time writing on its official letterhead something that destroys the image of the nation? Was it sabotage? Who is behind that? For what purpose was it written? By its own omissions, this statement betrays either the fact that our police are not willing to enforce the law when someone that is opposing the constitutional amendment is injured, that there may be other security structures undertaking their own parallel operations in the country, dereliction of duty, and/or vulnerabilities in our security system — if not its collapse. The letter leaves room for a lot of questions: 1The police are saying that they didn’t detain and assault Madhuku and were not involved in the gathering of his group, despite also stating in the same letter that the National Constitutional Assembly did not have permission to gather.
But let’s not forget that the same police monitored and used force to arrest Timba and his group for a similar unauthorized gathering to discuss the constitutional amendment, in line with the law. So why were they not present, monitoring and arresting Madhuku and his team for his unsanctioned and illegal gathering as they did with Timba? 2Are the police here saying they did not follow their standard operating procedures pertaining to illegal gatherings in this Madhuku case? If so, why not? 3Madhuku and his team were kidnapped and viciously attacked by unknown assailants (for discussing the constitutional amendment) who sounded like they had baton sticks that are only licensed to the police, law and order units, military police, or private security. 4So why does the letter from the police not express concern or curiosity about who undertook the attack using controlled law enforcement tools like baton sticks? 5Why does the letter not mention any intention for the police to do their work by investigating, establishing, and arresting the perpetrators of the crime, since the police are the only institution tasked with apprehending and using force to enforce the law in Zimbabwe? 6Are the police insinuating through their letter that they are not concerned about this lawlessness? Or do they know who undertook this crime and are thus not willing to investigate or apprehend the culprits? 7What does this letter say about law enforcement in Zimbabwe and the constitutional amendment, considering that this is the second alleged attack on people opposing the constitutional amendment and the same police have failed to issue statements about the progress of investigations into the first incident: burning of SAPES? This letter goes out of its way to tarnish the image of the government, the President, the party, and the constitutional amendment. So why did the police even bother writing it? Was it to taint all the above through an official government communique? This letter doesn’t make sense.

We TOTALLY condemn the alleged attack on Prof Madhuku. The @PoliceZimbabwe have made it clear that they never deployed police to the meeting held by Prof Madhuku. It means that whoever attacked the Professor has no links to the police. The reason for getting police approval is that: Police will be deployed to guarantee security & order. There are lots of characters who are working to tarnish the Amendment No. 3 process, you may fall victim to these people. At this point, we all know the politicians whose only known strategy is SMEAR campaigns… We urge the police to thoroughly investigate and hold the perpetrators accountable…

If key stakeholders mean only members of ZANU PF while leaving those who oppose and who will make noise and invite foreign attention, then there is no buy-in and the unity Ziyambi is purportedly seeking through this amendment, will be fleeting. All those who are advising ZANU PF to ignore or persecute those who disagree with them on this amendment, in this age of Trump regime change, are digging a hole for the party.

ZANU PF understands the game of POLITICS, it’s all about getting BUY-IN from key stakeholders. After the Gazetting of the Constitution Amendment Bill no. 3, ZANU PF top leaders are out in FULL force explaining the significance of the Amendments to party cadres throughout the country. Today, Comrade Machacha led the discussions attended by PCC Members from all over the country. Some attended virtually, while others were at the ZANU PF HQ in Harare. President @edmnangagwa believes in this approach, nothing else…. This will also empower ZANU PF members to contribute effectively during the public consultations.

𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙-𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧. Some time last year, I wrote my first article warning that the constitutional amendment to change the election cycle, was a risk to the Second Republic because: 1. It will reignite division and polarization in a nation that's slowly uniting around economic development and growth, 2. It will resurrect the opposition that was dead, 3. It would push the opposition to undertake civil action, protests, demos, and legal action, 4. Government would likely retaliate with suppression, arbitrary arrests, and force, 5. And once violence and arrests are used by government, then ZANU PF becomes susceptible to regional and international isolation, bad publicity, sanctions, and in a worst-case scenario, attack for regime change. All of which is unnecessary for a Mnangagwa government that's been turning around the economy and beginning to earn respect at home and internationally. Now, whether Maduku's claims are true or fake, after the SAPES office burnings, it’s now making ZANU PF look like it’s forcing the constitutional amendment without referendum because it can’t persuade people to accept it. This is self-sabotage ZANU PF. Why?
