I'm 47. In that wisp of a moment, I've learnt a few things. I've seen wealth and known lack. Had times when I never needed to look at the price of a menu or hotel room. But I've also had days when I didn't know how to pay rent or buy groceries. I've experienced years of great health but also months of going from doctor to doctor to find a diagnosis so I could be well. Yes, I've spent a small fortune on healthcare. I've known wonderful friendships. And I've been intimate with great loneliness. I have been betrayed and also betrayed others. Jesus is my greatest discovery and the Holy Ghost is my grandest attainment. Nothing else matters. In him I live and move and have my being. He brings reason and logic to everything. He is both the container and the content. The beginning, ending and everything in between. He reveals great purpose and meaning. When he comes into the room, the only sensible responses are: "Welcome, Lord. How may I serve and what should I give?" "Who am I that you would notice me and come to me. Here, now and for all time?" "What am I that you would reveal your thoughts and uncover your mind? Where was I created that the Holy One would choose to discuss his wishes?" What an absolute wonder.

Let me tell you the true version of this story that I know happened in Bowen University in 2005. The bookshop in Bowen University at the time shared the same building with Sterling bank. The building was behind Odili hall and it was not really built to be a bank. It was a branch the bank opened to take advantage of a start-up project like Bowen University with was just three years old at the time. One afternoon, a student went into the bookshop and sneaked into their toilet. From the toilet he climbed into the ceiling and waited there all night. In the middle of the night, he opened the ceiling of the bank and climbed into the bank. He opened the safe and cleared out all the cash (local and foreign currency). He found his way back to the ceiling and went back into the bookshop through the roof. He opened the door of the bookshop from within and escaped without beibg detected. The next challenge was how to sneak into the hostels undetected at that time of the day. All hostels were locked down by 10pm at the time. He decided to wait until morning, when students would flood the school area and the hostel would be open for all. He had the option of hiding in one of the classrooms or in the forest. He also had the option of hiding his loot in the forest while returning to hide in one of the classrooms. The school area is heavily patrolled by unarmed security men with torchlights during the night. This was usually to discourage male and female students from hiding out in classrooms to do what some young people like to do at that age Many of the classrooms were old and had nothing of value in them (they were built in the 60s when the school was a teacher training institute) This young man opted to sneak into Agric Workshop and wait it out with his loot. He hid there till 5am. One security man randomly heard someone snoring on his final patrol ajd went into the hall to investigate He found the 17 year old boy fast asleep and snoring. He said he had patrolled and checked the classroom before and didnt see anybody there and asked him where he suddenly surfaced from. The boy lied that he went there to read and slept off. The security man was not satisfied. He told the boy to open his bag and show him the books he had been reading. The boy began to beg him with some money to let him be. The man raised an alarm. Other security men came around and forcefully took his from him. When they opened it they saw money with Sterling bank stamps everywhere! They detained him until morning, called the Vice Chancellor. The bank manager was called and je rushed to campus He opened the bank and it was confirmed that he had robbed the bank. He was paraded round the school and handed over to the police. His parents later came to the hostel to pack his things. I was in 100 level when this happened!

This convergence is not accidental. It creates the atmosphere in which both the Antichrist system and the true remnant can fully emerge. A subtle dilution is taking place. What you see in the world, you now see in the church — the same dressing, the same dances, the same music patterns, the same appetites, the same moral compromises. Scripture warned us: “As it was in the days of Noah…” (Matthew 24:37). In Noah’s days, the earth was filled with violence (Genesis 6:11). Corruption was normalized. Perversion was unchecked. Humanity’s imagination was continually evil. Look around. What was once whispered is now celebrated. What was once hidden is now legislated. What was once shameful is now paraded. Sexual perversion is being normalized globally. Children are exposed to explicit content within minutes of entering digital spaces. Violence is broadcast in real time. Bloodshed becomes entertainment. You are no longer influenced merely by the culture of your land, you are being shaped by WORLD CULTURE through the global web. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world…” Conformity is subtle. It is gradual. It is absorbed before it is noticed. Truth is becoming harder to endure. People demand it softer, lighter, diluted, until eventually it disappears. But 2 Timothy 4:3 warned us that a time would come when men would not endure sound doctrine. I hear in the Spirit: “Mix the world until their colors become one.” A blending. A merging. A dissolving of distinction. But God has always preserved a remnant. In the days of Elijah, when it seemed all had bowed to Baal, the Lord said He had reserved seven thousand who had not bowed (1 Kings 19:18). Strive to be that remnant. Jesus said if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out (Matthew 5:29). That is violent language against compromise. Radical separation from corruption. Refuse to conform. Refuse to blend. Refuse to dilute. The world’s evil is now published globally. Its corruption is streamed live. Its pride is celebrated internationally. Humanity is testifying against itself. And yet, in the midst of darkness, light must shine brighter. The darker the night, the clearer the remnant. We will continue this discussion in church this Sunday. Come ready.
