@OBcrack serrrrriously. i can accept if they don't want to go for canon (within reason), but they're SO much more willing to tarnish the story, the character relationships, & create new lore that negates old lore, than just admit they'd rather not have them together for "whatever" reason.

homophobia has been actively bad for storytelling. like, we don’t talk enough about how bigotry literally makes art worse.
there’s something so humiliating about watching two same sex characters with insane chemistry get rerouted into heterosexuality. think about all the incredible ships we never got. think about how many stories would’ve been genuinely better if homophobia wasn’t a thing.

@alcremiekun yeah the way they panic is so transparent. if it were a het pairing, it would already be canon

@OBcrack not to mention, oftentimes creators, editors, etc. all catch wind of lgbt+ hcs/shipping and start shoving in new interests or "old interests never said," conflicts that wouldn't have happened between them, changes to character traits, random declarations of their bio sex, etc.

@SweetSN01 YES!!! minorities have learned to empathize without needing to see themselves. it’s not impossible, people just aren’t used to being asked to do it. i’ve learned so much about the world through stories that were never about me

@OBcrack I've finally found someone who shares my opinion! telling stories of queer people, POCs, women... is not only important for the sake of representation, sharing new perspectives, teaching empathy... It's also much more fun. Imagine all the possibilities we could explore in fiction
