We talked buy/sell. Awful weekend, but team’s 3 out. 9-9 with both Roman & Crochet on IL. Sure selling seems more likely at this point. But that talk is premature. Just is. 3 back. Not ready to give up in May when a slightly better offense gets you to the playoffs in this AL.

You're right, but he was in his 5th season in the minors and all you've been hearing is how he's a second coming despite the fact that he didn't hit all that well at any level. This leads to the Red Sox Fans epidemic of overrating their draft picks. None of these young hitters have all that great. Anthony had a short hot streak last year and the fans weee ready to put the kid into Cooperstown

He needs to back in AAA to work on hitting. But fans want to rush prospects up. The next great prospect that fans drool over-Arias- is not going to be ready til 2028. Unless they rush him through like everyone else.

@BostonTBA Mayer has barely had a minor league career. He’s going to start feeling pressure now with the media more and more. PLUS the added pressure of playing elite defense at SS like everyone expects. Lots of pressure for a kid with barely any pro experience at any level. We’ll see.

The biggest thing though is that AAA there are good offspeed pitches and decent pitchers but the jump from AAA pitching to major league pitching is huge, elite pitchers in AAA don't last long there and they're up in the majors pretty quickly. There is always going to be a bigger jump for batters than pitchers going from AAA to the majors and you won't learn until you see it in the MLB

@JeffPhe71323013 He’l need some time in AAA too. Anthony played close to 100 games. Played well and still struggled in Boston this season. At times he looked absolutely lost at the plate. Lots of young players all at the same time. Not enough veterans to help either-like Bregman did last year.

@OBeachRob I agree you don’t rush Arias up this year but he will absolutely be in Worcester this year and then very much in play for 2027.
