Today is World Teacher’s Day in NSW. I am a proud graduate of public school education and was thrilled to go back to Kadina High and Goonellabah Public School, Lismore in 2018. I consider public education one basic measure of the responsibility any country has to its next generation, and a non negotiable for any country genuinely committed to social mobility. Public education is chronically underfunded in Australia and that must be fixed. We are all freee to choose however every Aussie kid should have access to world class, free education irrespective of economic means or postcode. I also consider teaching one of the most important professions for any society committed to investing in its own future. Teachers have a huge influence on us all and the profession should always be one of the most sought after, and paid accordingly. Invest in our schools and our kids. @NSWEducation
