A 30-06 can shoot many different rounds designed for the platform including varmint rounds.
You don’t know what ammo was used, nor the condition of the weapon. As such, you’re talking out of your ass here.
I suspect the prosecution is comfortable making the case that the ammo, the weapon, the gun, the ballistics, and the autopsy line up.
But maybe you can ask to testify against the state’s experts? That’d go well!

Former middle school teacher sentenced to prison for sex crimes with student.
John Rose was sentenced in Bedford County Circuit Court to 20 years in prison, with all but six years suspended. He will also serve seven years of probation after his release.
Rose pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent liberties in a custodial relationship and two counts of carnal knowledge.
Per Rocktown Now, prosecutors said Rose met the victim while teaching at history at a middle school in Rockingham County and later worked in Bedford County Public Schools, where he was suspended after the allegations surfaced.
Authorities said Rose brought the student to Bedford County multiple times between August 2023 and early 2024, where the abuse occurred. Investigators said evidence from his home and cellphone corroborated the victim’s account.

THIS IS INSANE Two men, who both pleaded guilty to R*PING a 15yo boy and making child p*rn, received DIFFERENT sentences from two different judges. Eric Bergstrom was sentenced to 30-50 years by Judge Derek Vaughn. Judge Rich McGowan then took over the case and sentenced co-defendant Bradley Perry to ONLY 3 YEARS for the SAME CRIME. When Judge McGowan was questioned on his decision, he stated, "I am the law." How is this justice???
