Australia’s fuel crisis summed up by @RobbieBarwick Australia 🇦🇺 is the: ‘Biggest per capita diesel consumers in the world, we are the most reliant on diesel in the world’ Yet, as the charts in the video show, we don’t keep a good stockpile of it 🤦🏻‍♀️

What's so funny, Richard Marles? While the minister spoke about farmers struggling to get fuel and unsure if they can afford to plant their crops this season you were laughing in Parliament. This isn't a joke. It's hitting Australian livelihoods hard. 😠👇🏽

Australia was not established as a nation-building project. It was established as an extraction platform. The British did not colonize Australia to build a civilization. They colonized it to extract l; first convict labor, then wool, then gold, then minerals, then gas. The political architecture was built around that extraction logic from day one, and it has never been restructured away from it. You assume the state exists to serve the population, and therefore bad outcomes must mean the state is being run poorly. Australia is not a sovereign state that happens to have a mining sector. It is a private sector extraction platform that happens to have citizens. Every Australian who “owns” a home is servicing a debt instrument that enriches the FIC. The minerals get dug up by foreign-owned multinationals. The profits get distributed to global shareholders. The taxation office is structured; by design, through decades of lobbying, to ensure the extraction proceeds leave the country with minimal sovereign capture. The politicians are doing exactly what the structure requires of them: absorbing public anger, rotating every few years to reset the pressure valve. Australia is not mismanaged. Australia is managed perfectly, just not for Australians.

Australia was handed one of the greatest starting positions of any country in history Massive mineral wealth. Abundant energy. World-class beaches. Amazing climate. No fault lines... no earthquakes or tsunamis If you gave a 12-year-old this setup in a civilisation-building game, they'd build a paradise Instead, we got decades of useless politicians on both sides of the aisle who couldn't run a sausage sizzle at Bunnings without a $4 billion feasibility study and a royal commission Australia isn't unlucky. It's grossly mismanaged

Stick to the facts champ, Trump is not solely (or even primarily) to blame. • Australia has been structurally non-compliant with the IEA’s 90-day oil stock obligation since March 2012 (under the Gillard Labor government, 5 years before Trump took office). • As of December 2025 / early 2026, Australia holds ~49 IEA days total (well below 90), the lowest of any IEA member. This is not a new issue caused by any single US president. • The Fuel Security Act 2021 and Minimum Stockholding Obligation (MSO) – Australia’s actual domestic reserve rules – were passed after Trump left office (enacted under Morrison, commenced under Albanese). They only require industry to hold ~24–32 days of key fuels, not 90. Australian governments (both sides) have repeatedly cited cost as the reason for not building larger reserves. The shortfall is the result of domestic policy choices over more than a decade, not US presidential action.

TRUMP SAYS “GET YOUR OWN OIL.” 35 NATIONS SCRAMBLE! That wasn’t a throwaway line. That was a warning. Now look at this. Australia scrambling into emergency talks. Penny Wong meeting with 30+ nations. Trying to figure out how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. And the United States? Not even in the room. Let that sink in for a sec. The world’s most critical oil chokepoint is shut. Prices are spiking. Supply chains are tightening. And Australia is sitting in a virtual meeting… hoping diplomacy fixes what regime change created. Meanwhile Donald Trump already said it: “Get your own oil.” In other words, don’t rely on us. Don’t expect rescue. Don’t assume America will carry the weight like it always has. And suddenly the illusion breaks. Because thanks to our government Australia doesn’t have its own oil security. We don’t have the reserves. We don’t have the refining capacity. We don’t have a backup plan. So when Hormuz shuts… We don’t just watch the crisis. We are thrown into it. At the pump. On the shelves. In the cost of keeping the country running. This isn’t just a foreign policy moment. It’s a big Aussie wake-up call. Because if the message from America is “you’re on your own”… Then Australia better start doing something about it. #MikeFoster

@RositaDaz48 It’s a fantastic ploy to shine a light on the inept literal ‘actors’ who are masquerading as politicians in Western nations. It’s a very bold strategy - let’s see how it plays out. Hopefully, a deep slumber will be broken for some.

We’re being nudged towards EVs, because Aussie electric vehicle uptake hasn’t been anywhere near enough for the people who’ve forgotten they serve us, not the other way around. They want us in cars that can be deactivated at their direction. Don’t fall for it & don’t be sucked in by slippery politicians with policies too good to be true.

If you comply with any form of fuel lockdown now, you're signing up for climate lockdowns and travel restrictions tomorrow. Make it clear, we won't be locked down in ANY way. Their faliures cannot come at the cost of our freedoms.

@j0ker937 When people complain when they pay the bill that the tradie “only took 5 minutes” to complete the job, they’re generally forgetting that they’re paying for the amount of experience & practice behind him, not necessarily for the time he spends working on the job for them.
