@McMattRadio The 1987 movie was actually pretty good. I watched it a few years ago with the boys. Funny, solid action sequences.

JB and I went to see “Materialists” tonight. I really enjoyed it. Been a while since I’ve seen a movie with true pacing and dialogue. Reminded me of a @WhitStillman film—a true compliment.

It’s because most new atheists come from evangelical backgrounds. They’re two sides of the same coin.
Most people I know who are atheist or agnostic who don’t have a traditionalist religious upbringing don’t identify with new atheism.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. @Bezner Aristotle is great but some of what he wrote about magnificence and magnanimity regarding virtue is downright anti-Christ. Even if it is very much in line with how our values are currently trending.

If you want to understand the mind of a terrorist, read John Updike’s novel: “The Terrorist.” You’ll see that immigration has almost nothing to do with it and that religion is, at best, a secondary concern.

The suspect is a US Army vet born in America carrying an ISIS flag. In general the president (elect) should probably wait until they know what happened before deciding which group to demagogue.
