@ajtourville 80s taxcuts took away any ability for the government to keep up with inflation and cost of doing business. All while businesses practiced the grey area of super pacs which became solidified in the 90s through Citizen United. If governments fail it's because businesses want it.

@ajtourville You dont count inflation or tax rates. There are simple calculators and graphs that can do both. Ford and Rockerfeller are still larger than Musk with inflation and both existed in an era in which the wealthy paid high taxes averaging 79% during Ford and 73% during Rockerfeller.

Elon Musk paid $11 billion in taxes, the most ever paid by anyone in history. This is a 1,600-foot-long high-speed rail bridge to nowhere that costs $11 billion. There is no limit to government corruption.

People dont want to be dirty. People dont want to be bad. People want to live and do so via the means in which society teaches them they can live. Reinforcing ciminalship, otherness, and lesser-being is what keeps this wheel turning. Try giving opportunity, not judgment.

Homeowners cheer because "blite" is removed and they can feel safe because of a greater proximity from what they fear the most (being like the unhoused). It's a shame when the people being pushed out need opportunity that meets their values, interests, and identity the most.

The follow up from news is focused on what happens to the caves. Not what happens to the unhoused. If the "directed to" services were enough in the first place there would not be caves. Removing people capable of building this infrastructure removes potential from your city.

Isn't constant policing more expensive then establishing a regular trash pick up service? People found a place to live where they were accepted, not bothered, could grow, and because you deemed the space more important than their place, you have the right to remove them?

The rhetoric provided clear context to the thought of the place and placement of unhoused individuals. Where did all of these people get pushed to? Is this why the police were needed? Yeah, there is trash, where are the trashcans and utility services?
